Half way through the 2012 season, time to make a mock. Hopefully we will have the last pick, but this draft assumes we will have a late round pick regardless.
Free agency:
Mike Jenkins - DB
Jenkins is 27 years old and we will give us a solid/proven DB in the backfield. Our three corners (robinson /samuel / grimes) are all over 30.
Round 1: Michael Buchanan - DE - Illinois
Playmaker with a frame to put on muscle /weight. Looks a raw talent like aldon smith that has the ability to get to the ball quick.
Round 2: Le'Veon Bell - RB - Mich St
Turner's done, here's his replacement. 6'1, 240.
Round 3: Jake Stoneburner - TE - Ohio State
Complete TE that has good size at 6'5, 245.
Round 4: Xavier Nixon - OG - Florida
Reynolds and Baker's contract is up and Mclure's due to retire. OL depth.
Round 4 (comp from Lofton): Abry Jones - DT - GA
Round 5: Micah Hyde - DB - Iowa
Round 6: Will Compton - LB - Nebraska
Round 7: to philly in Samuel trade |

THis draft isn't bad at all. Not sexy but def not bad. I don't like the FA Mike Jenkins tho. He is bad. I wouldn't even want him as a nickel. I think LB may be a Free Agent option as well as Tight End. If TG isn't coming back, then we can go TE or even OG in Free Agency. _________________

Are you trying to give us the jail squad?
Michael Buchanan was arrested for suspicion of drinking and driving at age 19.
Stoneburner was arrested by police on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing official business his sophomore year IIRC.
Hyde was arrested for public intoxication a year or so ago.
Not Falcons type of dudes. _________________

I like some of the positions he listed for sure we need. But i agree on the jail thing it's a very uncharacteristic draft for TD to do.
Would keep the same positions where drafted but change the people. _________________

Pretty good draft outside of the character concerns. I don't like the Mike Jenkins signing though, apart from him being pretty average, since all our corners are going to be 30+ I think we should aim at getting younger through the draft. Samuel, Robinson, and Grimes (if he returns) all have a few years left in the tank.
Stoneburner is going too high. He is a great pass catching TE but he cannot block whatsoever. He has no blocking responsibilities here at Ohio State, he is a pure receiver in our offense. The misdemeanor charge he got this year was because he peed on a building in his neighborhood, complete BS if you ask me. Despite that I would rather have Eifert or Fauria from UCLA. He would be a great late round project pick though _________________ Atlanta Falcons: 8-1

After 5 years of drafting 'high quality character guys', at what point is it time to take a chance on a guy that has a issue here or there. Our locker room is solid and could embrace a guy that has made a mistake in his life.

I feel our needs our DB, DE, RB, TE, and so on..... that is where this draft was coming from. |

I don't think we break this trend. Whether we should in certain situations or not is debatable, but I do no think we break that trend under TD. _________________
