Norv could probably be a successful OC again since he could devote all his time to the offense and not have to deal with badly mangling other coaching aspects.
The Chargers have been competent drafters lately. If AJ Smith had positive input on that, he could probably find work in a drafting department for a team, although I have the feeling Smith would have too much of an ego to handle going from being GM of a team to going back to being a scout. He's also 63 and likely has the cash to retire comfortably anyway. _________________ Geno Smith, Tavon Austin, Stedman Bailey, and Bruce Irvin will all have at least 1 pro bowl season each by the end of the decade.

Yeah, Norv is a better fit in Baltimore or even Chicago. |

Have you watched the Chargers in the last few years? |
Yeah, Norv hasn't been a great playcaller since 2009. |
I'm not sure, to be exact; but I think he was being sarcastic.
At least, I hope... _________________ Come Follow My Oakland Multi-Sport Franchise! |

You are a Bengals fan, you know what suffering from incompetent coaching and management is like. |
Probably. Not always uphill with changes, but good luck... _________________

And yet utterly deserved. I still think AJ is getting scapegoated a bit (this resistance to drafting OL before the 3rd round has been part of the team's approach for far longer than he or John Butler were with the team - dating all the way back to '85), but this is a franchise in need of a breath of fresh air and a new mantra - so to speak.
A clean break is needed. _________________

And of course, Dean Spanos has to go and be a wet blanket...

I will make my evaluations at the end of the season. Anything coming out now -- from sources or otherwise -- is pure speculation." |

1 year too late, but it's well deserved for both....
This roster and all the offseason moves have been disgraceful in the last 3-4 years....
Yes, we hit on some picks from the last 2 drafts, but considering how we've failed in so many others, you can't really use that as an argument to keep Smith.
Norv just has an ill effect on everyone around him, when it comes to being accountable.
He has that regular "responsability" speech, but on the hardest of times he always makes excuses, and honestly I think he stopped giving 100% this season.
The real problem is seeing who comes in next.... Jimmy Raye and John Spanos for GM seems to be the choice.... that's not something who will keep anyone feeling warm and fuzzy... _________________

Assuming Mike McCoy gets a HC gig this offseason, I wonder if Norv would want to come and 'stick it' to the Chargers by becoming the Broncos OC? I am not sure of the fit from a scheme perspective because Peyton is more of an intermediate passer at this stage of his career rather than a deep ball QB, but it is an interesting notion nonetheless. _________________ 20 TIMES, 20 TIMES MAN UNITTTTTEEDDD

He could come to Oakland now that Al is gone (RIP AL) and use Palmer, DMC and OL to fully potential, 'cause everybody knows Greg Knapp is awful, besides D. Allen _________________ "To those who understand, I extend my hand
