The thing is, Kurt Coleman looked much better his rookie and Sophomore year than he did this past year. People saw a little bit of potential in him, but that was all squandered this year where he looks completely inept. I don't generally buy into the belief that players magically get worse, maybe defenses have finally started targeting Coleman more, but I do believe a fair amount of his struggles come from being asked to play so downhill with the Wide-9 in place. _________________

Kurt Coleman hasn't magically gotten worse, he's been pretty awful the entire time. _________________

Well he didn't have as many gaffes as he's had this year before so whatever level he was at he is clearly worse this year. _________________

No, it's not "magic." It's scheme and coaching. Look at the fact that I never used the word "good." I mean "decent" as in average. If you look at the safeties from the rest of the league and stop being such an anti-homer, you would see most people consider their safeties bad just like most consider their olines bad.
Coleman was decent, then they changed d-coordinators and scheme. Again, no magic. The problem is when you have 2 average safeties in a scheme that demands them both to be great, of course they're going to look bad. Our scheme requires in-their-primes Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu if they are asked to bail-out our disappointing corners as well as being asked to do our ends' run stopping duties. _________________

ok... how ever you guys wanna put it.. there should never be a reason a below average to average player with no power or strength like a Kurt Coleman should be relied on for physical play near the LOS.. Scheme and player suck and the scheme sure as hell doesn't mask any one weaknesses like great defenses find a way to do. _________________
