Overall he's just not a good football player. _________________

Overall he's just not a good football player. | I'd say he needs pro coaching but he has made plenty of plays at MSU. It's not like he is just a "run around" rusher either the guy isn't just relying on his speed or athletic ability. |

Completely disagree on Gholston not being a good football player. Players like that don't grow on trees. The Cincinnati Bengals have built one of the best DL's on talent similar to Gholston. If he's there in round 2, you have to pull the trigger there. We lack length severely on our DL, would love Gholston here. Agree that he needs pro coaching though, but all the tools are there IMO. _________________

If we draft somebody, I'd want to be able to use him in base, and I just don't see that in Gholston. He's a good player, there's plenty of evidence of that, I just don't see him as a good fit. _________________

I'm not Palmy, but Zac Stacy is going to be a very good three down back for a while in this league.
Watch him against a highly touted Georgia D = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9L8lAbcN4A
0:03 = Goes up middle. Maybe could've bounced to the right, with an average Vandy O-line solid decision. Pushes pie for 3 more.
0:13 = option play, almost converts a 2nd &11. Nice juke on Branden Smith.
0:23 = shows speed around edge, picking up around 12 on 2nd and 1.
:30 = very nifty footwork, solid balance. Picks up 5 on a play where blocking somewhat deteriorates.
:38 = option play, picks up a 1st. Breaks 2 tackles falls forward, under control but running hard.
:48 = goes up middle, get's about 2. Nothing there to do.
:53 = Solid chop block, knocks rusher down.
1:05 = nobody really to block, makes late contact
1:13 = Another solid chop block.
1:23 = Takes screen pass, not much to do with it. Makes initial man miss. Loses yards.
1:29 = Solid block.
1:37 = Takes pitch, shows vision, goes inside. Picks up about 15, pushes pile for more.
1:48 = Takes pitch picks up 12. Shows some of patience, following lead man.
1:59 = Picks up 5. Makes two guys miss.
2:07 = Picks up 12. Running through a very crowded lane.
2:18 = Vandy goes misdirection. Immediately eaten, Stacy loses about four.
That's it for the Georgia game, but he's really consistent and I love what he brings. Needs more attention. _________________

I'd love Stefan Taylor in this offense as a 3 down RB. Not sure you are ever going to see or use a real "bellcow" type, but Taylor has the ability to play in pretty much all forms of this offense from what I've seen. _________________

| Talking of running backs is anyone tempted by the idea of picking up Marcus Lattimore in the 3rd round? Give him a year to get fully fit and see if you have a steal? |

HELL NO
6th-7th maybe. He looks like a power scheme RB who has blown knees two years running. Not worth anything close to a 3rd. _________________

I think he will bounce back fine and be a good workhorse running back. He is already up and around walking and moving well, he wants to jog at the end of the month. He is an incredible athlete and a better person and I would love for him to be a Green Bay Packer. |

How often are we in base?
I don't feel like DL is an issue right now. Just bring in low DP/depth FA and we'll be fine. We need to get a S that can tackle! Hawk us frustrating too, I find my opinion swinging wildly with him from solid LB to "what the hellwas that?!" overall he's solid, yet unspectacular. A nice #2 that I don't think we need to upgrade on. We really need a S though. Loss of Collins was massive. _________________
