If their defense were a little better, I'd say so, but I don't think they have the team to compensate for Ponder being average.

As a Jets fan, I know full well a great running game and defense can compensate for a poor QB situation, but I don't see the Vikings as an elite defense right now. They have pieces, but not the whole thing yet.

I never understand posts like these. Why does it matter that he's a Titans fan? He's not the one asserting that his team is primed to make a playoff run. Who cares who his team's quarterback is? That fact is entirely irrelevant to his statement.

Efficient and confident? I don't know, he started the season with his head in the right place, then completely spiraled down, then rebounded to a respectable place the last few weeks I guess.

I just think young... It encompasses the play you see. I still think the guy's greatest strength is his leadership. I think it's that quality that saved the season. Everyone calls for the guy's head, heck I saw him out at a grocery store when he was maybe rock bottom. Heckled him a little... Guy was stone, even cut me back.

Shame the Vikes can't cut his head off and put it on Ryan Leaf body. Might have the GOAT.

Every team is priming up for a run, but actually making a run is a different thing.

Might as well just lock this thread up. Has just turned into a Ponder/Vikings bashing thread like all the other 293420 Vikings threads.

Lock it? How did this turn into a Ponder/Viking bash thread? You don't think the determining factor of how far the Vikes go will be on the shoulder of Ponder? You don't recognize that Ponder's stats are streaky?

Nope, not going to defend those... But can't see how you can defend shutting a thread down with much more good discussion than bad?

You could add something constructive and keep a thread alive (that has far more good) or complain and ask for thoughts to stop. I dunno, maybe you see a wild card and QB doesn't even matter.

Personally, I find the Vikings chances interesting. 2 weeks ago I would have laughed too. But in the last 2 months they have put two games in the 30 point bracket... Is that sustainable? Is it fluke?

The aspect of the Vikings team that no one is talking about as playoff ready is the pass rush. Might be the best one in the playoffs with Justin Smith out. Ponder won't have to light the world on fire this weekend if those guys show up.

+1. Even as a Vikings fan, I don't think we will win this one though.

However, when the Vikings get their pass rush going they're just as good as a San Fran or a Seattle on defense. The keys/ to the game will be making Rodgers uncomfortable and AD being AD.

Minnesota ranks 22 in sacks... Here's something weird, 20th is Seattle. Never would have guessed that. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=false&conference=null&role=OPP&offensiveStatisticCategory=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=SACKS&season=2012&seasonType=REG&tabSeq=2&qualified=false&Submit=Go
