Usually that's the case, but isn't he the one that said he's 95% sure Reid would become the Cardinals HC? |
I think that is just what one league source told him.

Even with Schefter, I get the feeling it's slim pickings in terms of actual leads. This time of year, it's SOP for most franchises to keep things extremely tight-lipped and it's the agents of the interviewees that are leaking anything (which you always have to take with a grain of salt because their primary goal is to get the most leverageable position for their client). What normally comes from the teams themselves are fluff pieces that read like paint-by-numbers and are really just intended to keep the casual fan base appeased, as those folks have little concept of the time logistics of this process.
Schefter probably has the best sources of any major reporter inside most every organization, but even with him it's likely a case of he's not going to know it until it's practically a done deal and contracts are being signed. The media's got to put something out though, they get paid by publishing/broadcasting stories - and in the event that stories are limited they've got to make something out of what little scraps they've got to work with. _________________

Fwiw, Kevin Acee has been saying that the Chargers GM job is between Telesco and Raye. That interview could just be posturing until the Jets are compliant with the league.
| Quote: | The Chargers have talked to almost everyone they believe they need to or will get a chance to talk to, and their search for a new general manager is almost certainly down to two men.
Jimmy Raye, the Chargers’ Director of Player Personnel, or Tom Telesco, the Indianapolis Colts’ Vice President of Football Operations, will likely be named as A.J. Smith’s successor in “a day or two,” according to a team source. |

| Here is a crazy idea!! Why don't they just hire the guy they want after the interview. This way everyone can move on from the teams, GM, players, coaches. All these rules are like anything else in this country wasting time and money on everyone. |

Most likely yes, but after Dean said we weren't interviewing anymore it was announced we were meeting with Gamble. So it is possible. Telesco means Arians. Do not want that. Gamble or Raye is what I'm hoping for since it sounds like Ross won't get it. _________________

Another Jets beat writer (same who reported deal w/ Gamble was "done", mind you) also says Caldwell tops the candidate list, but it's still a fluid situation. |

Sounds like Caldwell is just using the Jets to get more money from us, which is fine, you are only GM once. _________________

Maybe Gamble refused to get a New York Jets tattoo?
The New York media is out-of-control. _________________

So to recap expanded Jets GM search: Upcoming interviews for Jerry Angelo, Omar Khan, Brian Gaine, John Idzik. Jim Popp also on radar. #nyj |
The Jets have just randomly gone HAM after a few days of silence. _________________
