The @azcardinals promote Steve Keim to be their general manager. Presser scheduled for 3 p.m.

Keim worked last season as the Cardinals Vice President of Player Personnel and started handling most of our draft day responsibilities in 2011. He's worked for the Cardinals since 1999, where he broke into the business as an area scout.

Keim claim to fame (If you will) was being the guy in the draft meetings, prior to the actual draft day in 2007, who told everyone to take Adrian Peterson. We took Levi Brown instead based on our need at the tackle position.
While our FA choices leave much to be desired the last 2 years, our drafts since he took control have been pretty darn good. Gotten 5 quality starters out of those 2 drafts alone.

No it doesn't. This, unfortunately, gives us no indication of what we're doing with the head coaching position.

And the fact that Steve had likely been far more focused on collegiate scouting that he was on pro player scouting.
Also for mock drafters who like to keep it realisitc, Keim leans very heavily to BPA.

The organizations that do not answer this question in earnest are the ones that will pay dearly in the court of public opinion. I'm really quite surprised that they rarely respond with specifics. |

I've also read that he wanted to take Cutler over Leinart as well.
Seems like a good hire. Hopefully he gets the Cards back on track.

Can't confirm that one but I know he wanted Peterson in 07 and I know for fact he made the key evaluation on Daryl Washington in 2010. Keim had us rate him as the 12th best player in the entire draft. Worked out pretty well, all things considered.

This is from a Rotoworld blurb earlier today. Doesn't say where the report is from, but they still cite Keim as preferring Cutler over Leinart:

Unless he gets an outside head coaching job, he'll be a Cardinal in 2013. In what capacity, we don't know yet.
