@ArrowheadPride @theprogramkc Tommy Brasher will be the #Chiefs new D-Line coach. #NFL |
HC - Andy Reid
?? - Brad Childress
OC - Doug Pederson
QB - Matt Nagy
DL - Tommy Brasher
Looks like Mel Tucker could be a candidate for the DC job as well as Lovie Smith and - Jauron |
I don't get the position coach hiring before a DC is hired. It seems like the DC should have something to say in the position coach hires. |
Makes me wonder if either Gibbs or Emitt Thomas could be the DC. |
Could be, just not sure why Reid wouldn't just officially name the DC if he was either of the two incumbents. |
If Gibbs were named DC, I wonder if he would keep RAC'S 2 gap system, or if he would implement a more attacking 1 gap system... |

I think that was why Childress has also been given an assistant role on the staff. They have all worked together before so the comfortability and experience with each other is a great asset. _________________

more names floating:
Dave Toub (ST)
Eugene Chung (OL)
Eric Bienemy (RB)
However, Toub interviews for HC jobs (e.g. Chicago) as well.
Quite a lot of young guys getting a promotion. May take some time to mold them into a coherent unit. However, if it works this crew may stick together for some time without other teams pillaging the staff each and every year.
A short piece on Chung:

Just to go along with what KC_Guy's mentioning of Eric Bieniemy :
| Quote: | BOULDER — Eric Bieniemy, Colorado's offensive coordinator the past two seasons, is under strong consideration to be the running backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs, two sources close to the situation said Thursday.
If Bieniemy gets the job, he would be reunited with new Chiefs coach Andy Reid, whom Bieniemy played for his last year in the NFL in 1999 with the Philadelphia Eagles. Bieniemy would also again work with Brad Childress, whom Reid is expected to hire as an adviser and was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings when Bieniemy served as his running backs coach.
Colorado's offense struggled under Bieniemy the past two years, finishing 116th nationally this past season and 92nd in 2011.
Before joining the Colorado coaching staff, the former CU star coached the Vikings' running backs from 2006-10. He also coached at UCLA from 2003-05 after starting his coaching career as a CU assistant from 2001-02.

Heard last night that Chiefs requested permission to interview Bob Sutton. Now, I'm hearing Sutton will be Chiefs defensive coordinator #nyj |
Currently Asst HC/LB Coach NYJ.
Mehta usually is a reliable source. _________________ Be it known that this day, January 4, be known as Reid Friday from now until ... well, as long as it lasts ... |

That tidbit doesn't make sense. So the Chiefs supposedly request an interview yesterday and the next morning, first thing, they are reportedly hiring him? When did they meet with him after asking for permission to interview? _________________

They did say requested, as in past tense. She could have heard that the request was made then are expecting to hire him at the same time. _________________

When I go back and reread the post, I do see how she could have heard last night that previously they asked to interview. I read it the first time before my coffee, that is my excuse and I am sticking to it! LOL _________________

Agreed. Nothing about the tidbit specifically says the request was last night, only that she heard of it last night.
So.. 3-4 yes?

I think his time with Rex will have helped change his philosophy just a bit. Bob Sutton is a guy who I had mocked to us in my first off season mock, and I really think he can help improve our defense as a whole. Conservative isn't necessarily a terrible thing when we have been coached by Romeo Crennel the past couple years. _________________
