If Chad Greenway is an OLB, then Mayo is an OLB. And if Mayo had gotten the same number of votes at OLB that he did at ILB, then he would have made the second team. |
So Timmons has more responsibility and still outplayed him is what I'm hearing? MLB/ILB > OLB. It's 2010 all over again. _________________

Also, good to know that Patrick Willis and Navorro Bowman are always going to make it on name, not on their play. I'm not saying that they're not good. They're bot top 5-10. But Lawrence Timmons has outplayed Willis in 2010 and 2012 and didn't receive the votes simply because of Willis' play in the past. Willis and Bowman had much more help around them than Timmons. |
This argument has probably been said for every 49ers player on defense by now. I've seen it for Aldon countless times, for Goldson, for Culliver, for Rogers, now for Willis and Bowman, I'm sure it's emerged for Justin Smith... so what gives. Which of them are actually elite, and which are just good players feeding off the rest? |
At no point did I ever say they weren't elite. At what point did I ever say that they weren't elite? I said top 5-10 which was mainly aimed at Bowman because I have the top 5 ILB as...
1.) Willis
2.) Cushing
3.) Timmons
4.) Johnson
5.) Bowman
Nor have I ever questioned the other people. You seem to forget I was pushing for Justin Smith as DPoTY last season. The ONLY 2 49ers I think are benefitting from play by others are Aldon Smith and Navorro Bowman. However, as you can see Bowman is still ranked 5th at his respective position by me. However, Smith's sackless streak once Justin went out speaks volumes to me.
All I'm saying is those 2 merely have to eclipse 100 tackles and have a few splash plays for the next 4 or 5 seasons in order to get All-Pro honors and it's not fair. But I guess I shouldn't be whining as Maurkice Pouncey only has to play 14 games a season to get All-Pro honors apparently.
All I am saying is that Lawrence Timmons is getting screwed over fo the 2nd time. Not that they're not good. |
I wasn't aiming that at you, for what it's worth. I remember you pushing Justin Smith as DPOY (which he rightfully was, tbh). I took exception to the "top ten" label because I felt it was an insult to Willis to be placed in the same sentence as something as inclusive as a ten deep list. I can agree with you on Bowman to an extent, but he's really a great player and would thrive on most teams. He obviously benefits from playing with Willis and Smith, but he's still a great player in his own right (I'd have him somewhere in the lower top five, like you).
I also agree with you on Aldon. He's a good player but I don't think he's as elite as his stats indicate. He is nearer the bottom of the top five of important 49er defenders than the top (Willis, Bowman, Smith, Goldson, and Aldon are the top five, order is debatable after 1, Smith, and 2, Willis). _________________

I guess you might as well just make the entire All Pro OL left tackles, because they have the most responsibility. |

Ugh, Weddle second team. Well at least he made it. Damn Pro Bowl is such a joke. _________________

Haven't heard about it, can't believe Brett Favre got that vote though. _________________

Why doesn't FF do one? I'm sure it would be way better, at the very least more discussion. |
We usually do because the Associated Press usually messes up the Award Votes, the All-Pro teams and the world just messes up the Pro BOwl. |
LOL at everything sucking in the opinion of FF.

No. No Wilkerson didn't even get one vote. Antonio Cromartie also didn't make it and he was the second best CB in the NFL this season. |

I didn't see much of Cro but he looked bad against Pitt. But I can't base a entire season off of one game. _________________

I might be wrong, but I don't think Cro gave up a single TD between that game and Week 16. |
