Holy crap. He should've pulled a Clemens and waited til a couple catchers got hurt during the year. I can't believe the deal then would be any worse than this one. So unusual for a free agent of his caliber to be this underpaid. |
He has a hip issue, voided his first contract.

It's still crazy. Obviously it's a risk, but for one year at that price, that's a no-brainer.

Ben Rogers from espndallas.com reported that the Rangers offered Napoli more money on a one year deal since he failed the physical. But Nap choose Boston because he will be the starting 1st baseman, in Texas he would have caught a few games and been the right handed 1st baseman, if Moreland struggled Berkman would have taken over 1st and Napoli would have been DH.
