I'd absolutely love for us to can Capers and bring in Horton, sadly it won't happen. McCarthy will defend him threw one more season and if he lays another egg in a playoff game then we'll look at it more realistically. Hopefully the candidates are good in 2014. _________________

I'm warming up to the idea of Horton, my primary concern is that he's basically a hired gun, the guy is going to be an HC REAL soon. _________________

You never know. Been saying that about Mike Zimmer for the past few years... |

You never know. Been saying that about Mike Zimmer for the past few years... | yeah, but I don't want to waste the last few good years for Peanut, Pep, & Briggs on a transitional defense, only to then lose the DC in 2 years, and start over from scratch. _________________

You never know. Been saying that about Mike Zimmer for the past few years... | Seems like the rumor with Zimmer is that he doesn't interview well. Horton blew St. Louis away so much with his interview that he was going to be their guy last year if Fisher had picked Miami.
Obviously there's still a chance he could keep striking out, but I think it's very likely Horton gets a head coaching job next year. He was hurt this year by the imbalance between offensive and defensive hires. There is a general trend towards offensive coaches, but it got out of control this year. I don't think it's going to be the case every year that only one coach with a defensive background is hired as a HC, which was the case this year.
But yeah, on another note, I was complaining yesterday in the Ravens forum about how you guys keep getting lucky with everyone passing on Gruden and Zimmer. Not to mention having Hue Jackson being dumb enough to trade the farm for Carson Palmer (and then getting hired by Cincinnati in the offseason... I AM A HUE JACKSON TRUTHER! )... I don't know man, Mike Brown has some weird voodoo stuff going on these days or something. _________________ "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” |

 | Good job Browns. The Browns will be a force in the next couple of years. I don't blame Horton, he had what, 3 interviews? I'd quit too after they strung me along with that BS. _________________

| Great hire for the Browns, but they better have a succession plan in place. Whoever's 2nd in command to Horton will be an important choice for Cleveland. Ray won't last another 1 or 2 offseasons before he gets a head coaching gig, so having a young up and comer learning under Horton that can be promoted once he leaves would be prudent for Cleveland. |

Huge blow for Arizona. I can't even believe they let perhaps the strongest part of their entire team walk. Horton got the most out of some pretty mediocre players in his time. Obviously great news for the rest of the West, but I feel terrible that he isn't a HC yet when so many less deserving candidates are getting hired. _________________
