|
|
|
Hi guys,
Some of you may remember a couple of years ago, I ran an 'Elimination' style tournament which culminated in Footballs Future selecting it's consensus 'Favorite Play Of The Year'
For those that don't remember, here's a link
With the season soon to be over, there's not going to me much to talk about on FF, so hopefully, this tournament can provide some discussion, some competition and provide some great memories, and perhaps show us some great plays that we missed too.
Anyway here's whats going to happen.
a) I will create a thread in each of the 32 NFL team's sub-forums, asking them to nominate a consensus 'Favorite Play' from their team.
b) Once I have collated all 32 sub-forums' nominations I will use a list randomizer to determine which teams will face each other in the tournament.
c) I will then create a thread in NFL General for each match-up, where the FF community can determine which play is their favorite until eventually we end up with 2 remaining plays,
OK, so now that's sorted. Let's get down to the fun part, time for the your sub forum to nominate their favorite play of the 2012 NFL season!
There is literally no criteria for selecting a favorite play. It could be an Offensive, Defensive or Special Teams play, the first play of the game, or the last play of the game or anything in between, it could come in a win, a loss (or a tie) it could be a scoring play, or a non scoring play.
You can select literally anything, in the 2010 tournament there was an OG returning a kick-off 70 yards, a Pick-6 by a Defensive End, Touchdown celebrations or trick plays by Punters. Literally anything!
Ah, there is one rule. You must post a video link (preferably to Youtube (those 30 second adverts on NFL.com are annoying after a while) or even better, post a GIF.
So go ahead guys, nominate your favorite play of the year!
I'll be back in a few days to see if you've come to a concensus nomination, if not, I will start a Run-Off thread between the 2 or 3 most popular selections until we have a winner!
Thanks. _________________

Off the top of my head, maybe one of the JJ pick 6's or the Gibson grab against Miami. _________________

I say we send them a GIF of Craig Dahl emptying out his locker. _________________

I really wish that I could use the Amendola catch from the first niners game. The one that should have been the game winner but was negated by an illegal formation call. _________________ LANCE KENDRICKS 42 RECEPTIONS 519 YARDS

Even though I've never been a fan of his this catch by Gibson has to be one of the most impressive plays of the year on offense.
Gibson
My personal favorite would have to be Givens
Givens
That was his first big catch of the year and I think boosted his confidence and got him on a roll. _________________

This is tough. There really isn't one play I can think of that is extraordinary.
Week 1 Cortland Finnegan INT TD
It wasn't a great individual play, but it was the beginning to a nice season. A nice kick start.
Week 1 Brandon Gibson TD
It was a diving, over the shoulder catch with two guys on him.
Week 4 Fake FG pass for TD
Gave the Rams momentum for a big victory over the Seahawks.
Week 5 Givens TD
Rams offense couldn't put many points on the Cardinals defense, but Givens 70 something yard TD was enough for the win.
Week 6 Gibson catch
A back shoulder, leaping one-handed grab. Arguably the best individual play of the year. But it didn't help the Rams get a win or TD.
Week 8 Givens TD
Was a beautifully thrown ball off a play action to give the Rams a quick 7-0 lead in London. We know how that ended.
Week 10 the SECOND fake punt pass for first down
No one saw it coming and it was executed perfectly. Was a defining moment in a game the Rams should have won @ 49ers.
Week 13 Kaepernick safety
Tried to get out of the pocket, but Janoris Jenkins made a great play forcing Kaepernick in the end zone on a blitz.
Week 13 Janoris Jenkins TD
Ted Ginn couldn't handle a pitch, and Janoris Jenkins scooped it and scored.
Week 13 Greg Zuerlein FG
54 yard field goal to win the game in overtime vs 49ers after tying the game with a 53 yard field goal with no time remaining in the 4th.
Week 14 Austin Pettis catch
It was 4th and 1 with the game on the line. Bradford threw it poorly behind Pettis but he made an spectacular spinning catch to save the game the Rams would win later in that drive.
Week 16 Lance Kendricks TD
He was open on a busted coverage but managed to out run the entire Bucs secondary. Amendola also had a huge block that took out 2 defenders during the play. _________________

Steven Jackson's push against Patrick Willis during that tie game. Shows that we ain't gonna get pushed around by other teams anymore.

My favorite play, BY FAR:
Janoris Jenkins Fumble Touchdown versus San Francisco at Home.
That was the loudest that the dome got all year. _________________

I was going to come back in here and say one of those plays where Jackson picked up an immediate free biltzer and stone walled him. He did it to willis at least once. _________________ LANCE KENDRICKS 42 RECEPTIONS 519 YARDS
