Realistic Pay-cut for Kolb?

Today listening to Jurecki he says Arizona will likely approach Kolb & his agent to adjust his contract before his bonus in March. We all knew this but what would be an appropriate pay-cut for him?

Current cap #'s over the next 4 seasons...

2013: 15M
2014: 14M
2015: 14M
2016: 12M

= 55M

So is 7-8M annually realistic or will it still be closer to double-figures like 9-10M? We hold the power cause nobody will give him more money and years... So basically how low do you think he'll go? Heard anything from your source regarding this Champ??

It better be cut in half IMO. 6-7 million a year is more than fair compensation for what Kolb brings to the table. Added incentives would be fine with me. If he's not willing to accept a massive paycut then I say we cut him loose. I don't want to start the Keim/Arians era with an expensive QB they didn't bring in and isn't an ideal fit because it will only hurt our long term future.

What he should take and what he will take are 2 different beasts.

He knows he will get bugger all elsewhere, so we hold all the cards (no pun).

However he also knows atm, we have no other alternatives, so really it is a standoff.

I think reducing his base real low with the option to earn it back if he performs is the way to go.

He has already gotten $21 mil or so, so he winning overall

All I've heard is that any pay cut will have to be "significant".

As far as the question goes, I have no idea how low Kolb will go but I know what I would present to him. I would ask to slash his 2013 salary from that 9 million figure to somewhere around 2-3. We present it to him and that'll still make a fairly reasonable sum of 4-6 million this season (About what he'd see in FA IMO) and coupled with the nearly 20 million we've already paid him to this point the deal is more than fair. That would get somewhere around 5-7 million of our books, which is double the amount of money that a release would save and from Kolb's perspective he gets to stay in the place that gives him the best chance to start in 2013.

I feel this is a fair deal for both sides, though it doesn't address the entire length of the deal and only the short term. I don't know how I'd want to do it overall.

Getting paid beats not getting paid.

Plus there arent alot of other opportunities out there.

Common sense will prevail (hopefully quickly)
