Free Agents we sign:
Chris Clemons S—Comes in and claims one safety spot at a decent price
Greg Toler CB—A solid veteran edition that could start or be a 3rd CB
Luis Vasquez G—Replaces Stephen Peterman
Players we re-sign:
Joique Bell
Jason Fox
Chris Houston
Justin Durant
Louis Delmas (incentive-based contract)
Don Carey or Ricardo Silva (they seem to be basically the same caliber player)
Willie Young
Sammie Hill
Don Mulbach
Kassim Osgood
Rodey Austin
Carmen Messina
Gosder Cherilous
Draft
We trade Brandon Pettigrew for a 3rd round pick
The St. Louis Rams trade 16 and 22 to the lions for #5. They draft Eric Fisher
1st Round 16: Sam Montgomery—A little underrated but will be good against the run and pass
22: We trade out of this pick into the 2nd round:
2nd Round: David Amerson S—Has all the skills to be a great ball-hawking safety
2nd Round: Travis Frederick C/G—A really solid interior player
3rd Round: Blidi Wreh Wilson CB—A solid value in the 3rd round
3rd Round: Gavin Escobar TE—Platoons with Scheffler and Heller
4th Round (compensatory): Mike Cataputo DE—takes Lawrence Jackson’s spot in the DE rotation
5th Round: Corey Fuller WR— Has good size/speed but is a track guy learning to be a WR
6th Round: Craig Wilkins LB—Good triangle numbers and production. Solid back-up /special teamer
7th Round: Jeff Locke P—A long-term fix for our punting woes
We will still be a little thin at DE but we would get some very good young talent at a lot of other positions. We could always sign a veteran DE that is cut by another team as a temporary fix. |

Dont really like it.
I'm fine with Montgomery and Frederick. Fuller is an intriguing guy at WR and how much I like him depends on what other WR are available (I really like this WR class in terms of depth). Locke is a solid choice at P.
Dislike/hate the rest.
Dont really feel the secondary was addressed appropriately. Resign Houston, sign Toler and draft BWW at CB, when we still have yet to see our 3 rookie CB's from last year develop. Safety still sucks as well.
Much rather keep Pettigrew than trade him (essentially) for Escobar. This TE class has a bunch of good pass-catching TE's, no need to trade away a starting TE to draft a pass-catching TE in the 3rd when value will be there later.
Dont know much about the DE or LB.
DE is dangerously thin with Montgomery, Young, KVB, and the 4th rounder. _________________

| I heard Amerson is a horrible tackler. This is not what I like to hear about a starting safety. Don't like that you didn't address LB until the 6th. Agree with 1king about Pettigrew, this is not a clear upgrade, and Pettigrew does not have a bad contract like KVB or Burleson. Not many explosive players in this draft, I only like Frederick. |

| i get the Rams need a LT but i cant see why the would give up 2 firsts for one. IF hes the next Orlando Pace maybe.. Someone mentioned about Amerson, he just don't look like a willing tackler. Great going after the ball but that all i like about him. Like the Fuller pick |

Why keep Durant over Levy? Levy played through a hamstring injury for most of the year but before that he was one of our best defenders and certainly our best LB imo. _________________

I would keep Durant over Levy too. Reason is the cap situation and Durant will come cheaper IMO and the difference in play is minimal. _________________

What makes you think Durant would be cheaper? _________________

They are about same overall so I think Levy being a couple years younger will gain a little more money. _________________

Sorry I just don't like the draft!
The only player I'd be happy with is Wilson.
To decide between Durant and Levy would depend on your preference. Durant is good is run support but not in pass coverage. Levy is the exact opposite. Together their positives make one good player. If the Lions want to get better they need to get rid of both of them. |

never happen Rams have a very solid LT and Fisher has never been part of a team that took an OL in round 1. Not that I think he would never take a linemen but no way they trade up to draft a LT when Rodger Saffold is already very good.
They need a guard, wr and safety not a LT. |
