Yes, ladies and gentleman, we are now linked to Jamarcus Russell. No Joke.

Quote:
The Newark Star-Ledger reports the Jets have had "some very exploratory, informal discussions" regarding ex-Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell.
Russell, of course, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft and has been out of the league since 2009. However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported last week that Russell is planning to show his face at the NFL Scouting Combine next month in hopes of making a comeback. Russell is currently tipping the scales at 305 pounds, but hopes to get down to his past playing weight of around 260. The Star-Ledger says these talks happened after Mike Tannenbaum was fired, but it's unclear if John Idzik was in the fold, yet. Only the Jets.

Not saying anything will come of this, but I mean, COME ON. Seriously?

The only reason this is even reported is because it is the Jets.

Had another team had the same conversation, it wouldn't even be mentioned.

Besides, I don't even believe this took place.

I'd rather have an almost 70 year old Joe Namath play QB than Jamarcus.

Makes sense. First full years are almost identical.
Sanchez's line: 196-for-364, 2,444 yards, 12 TDs. 20 INTs
Russel's line: 198-for-368, 2,423 yards, 13 TDs. 8 INTs
They just want another chance at developing their Sanchez

Woah Shocked

I just speak truth. I don't think you guys (or anyone in the NFL) will sign him back.

Exactly. It plays right into the narrative of "dysfunction."

They just make this stuff up, im sick of how every story or article is displaying us as a joke. Its easy money for these writers but when it comes down to free agents etc picking between us and another team surely they would be put off signing for us after looking at the 'press' and 'expert' views on our franchise!

Thank you. I hate NY media. Anything to make us look bad at this point. We really did bring it on ourselves though.

It's ridiculous. On Rotoworld they ended their blurb about this with
Quote:
Only the Jets.

Yes, only the Jets would discuss the possibility of giving a former number one overall pick with a monstrous arm a camp invite. What a crazy idea!

I don't even think the Jets this year were that dysfunctional in the Front Office. I think Mike Tannenbaum made two very big errors in judgment, the receiving corps couldn't stay healthy, and that Mark couldn't handle all of it.

The Jets aren't the circus. Tebow isn't a circus. The circus just follows Tebow because the media thinks that anyone still gives a you-know-what about what Tebow ate for breakfast.

This whole us against the media mentality is ridiculous. Sports journalism is hardly real journalism, but I highly doubt rumors about our organization are all lies. What was the last boldface lie the media told? Sanchez tattoo? Mike pettine?

Lets call this what it is. The jets are probably doing their due diligence on Jamarcus progress. This was all likely before John became gm, and last I checked he does personnel moves.

Oh come on how can the Jets kicking the tires on Purple Drank surprise anyone. I said it the first day he announced his comeback. What a joke, only the Jets.
