Those are fair reasons to not like it if you believe that. Based on your post I vehemently disagree with you on the value of Swearinger and Franklin though. _________________

I like Fisher as a player. I think down the road he will be the best LT from this class. It should set the Lions up for the foreseeable future with RR, Fisher and Fox. In the short term it free's up money by not resigning Cherilus and letting Backus walk.
Swearinger is a good player he is a big time hitter but I don't like him. He is terribly penalty prone.
Nothing wrong with the Franklin pic I'm just in the camp that doesn't want a RB or WR in the third round. That said Mayhew is going to draft one in the top rounds and Franklin would be a good one. It's a philosophical difference not an objection to the player.
Drafting Bailey is good, I'm just not certain how effective he would be year one as a starter.
The rest of your picks I don't know enough about to offer an informed independent comment, so I won't.
Free agency I'm somewhat scratching my head. McBride and Jones are both backup quality and while McBride had some success in Detroit he has been pretty ineffective in New Orleans. I think Jones has more promise but again I don't know how much you can expect from him. I do like the Jenkins signing.
As a side note, I love Delmas I'm just not certain at what point the Lions cut ties and try to invest that money in a player that plays more snaps.
Overall it seems very realistic and the type of mock that will closely resemble the reality of what happens. The salary cap situation is a big anchor this year.
By drafting Fisher you save a ton of money. Not resigning Cherilus and cutting Backus frees up allot of money. Cumulatively the Lions would have a very cap friendly offensive line.
I'm curious if you have a final tally that shows the Lions cap situation after this mock. It seems there should be some room left. _________________

Now a wr would make more sence. There are imo just as good third down backs that can be had later. i think u are reaching for a need with swearinger.. i just dont no how u can call him a top 35 guy in this draft. |
