I'm not surprised that whole country is homophobic. Half of them must be in the closet. _________________

Didn't get to watch the match - watching replay now. I heard Nacho was solid but overall we were a bit wasteful, but glad to get the 3 points and get another one over on Tony Pulis.

That wouldn't be so tough for me, but the earlier games (4:30 AM) would be quite a hassle.
My winter football league games have been coinciding with Arsenal lately, so I've been DVR'ing them, but I can never bring myself to not check the score/follow the action on Twitter.. something about watching live sporting events on a delay/after the fact is so unappealing to me.
I still generally go back and watch the whole game but knowing the outcome (at least when it's a loss/draw) is no fun. |
That still doesn't stop me. I've missed only 3 weekend fixtures away from pub this season - and one of those I was out of town and found a pub to watch it at anyway. Mind you, I have a 35 minute drive each way to get to the pub where the LA Gooners meet up.
I'll have to enjoy it while I can, when the twins come they'll be decked out in Arsenal gear, but I'm likely going to be stuck home watching matches and trying to keep my cheers to really silent ones to not wake them up next season. _________________

If I had a pub or a group of fans to watch with, it would be easier to get up early. When it's just me, it's really tempting to hit snooze. _________________

And Ivory Coast has lost to Nigeria.. You know what that means...
Our fearless leader of the line is coming home
Hopefully Togo win later so Adebayor stays away from Spurs a bit longer with Defoe out injured now. _________________

What part of California are you in? There are good-sized active supporters groups in LA (closer to Westwood), Orange County (Santa Ana), and San Diego. As well as chapters in San Fran, San Jose, and (assuming they're still active) Sacramento. _________________

Santa Clara, which is like 3 minutes from San Jose. Problem is I don't have a car. _________________

Chuba Akpom (16) has already scored twice today for the England U19's against Denmark.. he's certainly making an impression this season - academy product.
Could see him promoted to the 1st team next season. _________________

I kind of doubt Afobe ever contributes for Arsenal. Seems a lot like JET. I know he's still young but he hasn't been able to distinguish himself at all in his loan spells.
Aneke, Akpom, and Gnabry all look like solid prospects, though. _________________ "The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” |

What about Eisfeld? Didn't he turn some heads several months ago? _________________

He and Gnabry are probably are two most talented prospects. Really wish we had a CB at that level though. _________________

Eisfeld looks a good prospect with an eye for goal - I'd expect him to be more of a late bloomer given his injuries at BVB set him back a bit in his development.
I agree with BTerp that Afobe will struggle to get a 1st team spot - and I think Chuks time will be next season to show that he's a future starter. Both may get chances, being that they'll be 20 by then.. Aneke has been doing well on loan at Crewe and they've extended it until the end of the season, meanwhile Afobe didn't make much of an impact in the Championship so Bolton cut short his loan deal. He's now back in the reserves.
Edit: Just after I type that I see Afobe is going on loan to Millwall.. lovely. _________________

Mertesacker & Podolski starting for Germany. Koscielny starting for France, with Giroud & Sagna on the bench. Just hoping for no knocks.
Santi played the first half for Spain so hopefully he gets subbed off - Nacho is on the bench so could see a few minutes of playing time yet. _________________

Podolski off after 68-minutes injury free.
Wilshere played 90-minutes looked quite tired at the end. Hasn't had a game off in quite some time. Maybe next weekend v Blackburn he can get a breather. _________________
