It apparently recently started filming. The Turtles will be aliens, rather than products of radioactive ooze. 
I have my reservations. It is Michael Bay, after all.

Year after year, my childhood cartoons seem to be butchered in even more brutal fashion. Ninja Turtles was one of those movies that were so much better because it was animated instead of this "Avengers" monstrosity Michael Bay wants to make it. I don't see any way in which this production doesn't turn out truly awful.

Apparently they're going to be Aliens now. IMO this ruins the TMNT franchise and I won't be seeing this movie.

Actually, for those saying that the Turtles are aliens now, while true, they were originally going to be aliens, but it was determined that they wouldn't relate to the audience as well, so they became mutants instead, so the mutant to alien, does suck, I agree, but they were originally going to be aliens.

the plot might be iffy...
but Bay is going to put out a blockbuster as far as effects go... that alone is enough for me to watch it |

I absolutely hate the idea.
The concept itself is pretty stupid today. Back in the late 80s and 90s, things like this could be entertaining. These days, I dont think a live action version of TMNT, regardless of the story or origins of the turtles will be that appealing at all, and would fall flat on its face regardless.
I think the only people who will even really care are those of us who grew up with them in the pinnacle of their popularity, but once people realize its Michael Bay, that will likely cut that ratio in half as well.
Bottom line....this thing is destined to fail. It MIGHT do decent at the box office, because Michael Bay's trailers seem to get people hyped up. Unfortunately, the movie never lives up to it because in Bay's movies...the story takes a backseat to special effects.

Yeah, here's your info: Everything Michael Bay touches is god awful and he ruins it. Expect tons of meaningless explosions, terrible acting, one hot girl, and a ruined story line.

I'm really hoping that wasn't the real script. It read pretty much exactly like Transformers. Completely terrible.
Here's what I wrote on it when the script leaked

Gee, this sounds a lot like the plot for Bay's Transformers..... In fact, from what I've looked over, it looks like he rewrote Transformers to include the Turtles (maybe this is why he made them aliens, so he wouldn't have to change the script type much???), and made it even worse.
Thank God my childhood wasn't ruined with this crap. |
They removed the script (Paramount sent a Cease and Desist letter), but God, was it awful. I'm sure there's another copy out there on the net somewhere.

I hope this never sees the light of day. I genuinely love the Ninja Turtles. I grew up on them, I was them Halloween, I had toys beyond toys beyond toys. I'm 31 years old, got married late last year, and asked my wife for TMNT 1,2,3 on BluRay for Christmas. Please DO NOT let Michael Bay ruin this for not only me, but for everyone that grew up with these lovable Mutants.
