Quote:
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Carson Palmer-to-Cardinals trade has "hit a snag."
La Canfora adds that he's uncertain if the "snag" can be overcome. Both Oakland and Arizona have been working on a restructured contract for Palmer, and the sides are still pushing toward a deal. It's possible that Palmer might not be cooperating, and he may be refusing to take a pay cut to head to the desert. Earlier reports had Palmer "hoping" he could sign with the Bucs, so maybe he's trying to get released in order to be able to pick his team.

I don't blame him for wanting to come here and play behind our line compared to Arizona's. And we couldn't really do much better for a backup QB than Palmer. If the Raider's end up releasing him we'll see if the front office really wants to bring in competition for Freeman.

Just the talk of acquiring a guy like Palmer should be enough to give Freeman some motivation.

Completely agree. Palmer is nothing like what he use to be in his prime with the Bengals but is a very good backup. Funny thing is that he knows he would be the #2 out the gate regardless and Freeman has this season and unless he F's up big time then Palmer will remain the backup..but he still wants to come here. If having a previous top 5 QB as your backup doesn't light a fire under Freeman's a$$ then nothing will. Clear that its big year or bye bye for Freeman.

Palmer wants to come here to win and I really think he thinks he can beat out Josh Freeman.

It wouldn't shock me at all if he did beat out josh. But the thing about Palmer is his velocity. Since his elbow surgery he hasn't been the same qb.

Agreed. Palmer isn't some bum like Orlovsky or Ryan Fitzpatrick. If he came here he would give Freeman a run for his money. Palmer doesn't have the arm strength that he once this did, but he can still sling it.

With Palmer-to-Arizona trade talks hitting a "snag" Monday, perhaps the Raiders will have to end up releasing Palmer rather than securing a late-round pick as compensation.

It would be nice to swoop in and throw a late, late pick the Raiders way.

Palmer already has pocketed a ton of money, if he looks at the Bucs roster, you can surely believe that he thinks he could excel and beat out Freeman. I'm not saying it is going to happen, but also if you look at the Bucs o-line compared to other teams he could go to, really the Bucs have a big advantage. This may get very interesting.

It's just not our line that gets the nod. Jackon and Williams are one of the best 1/2 combos in the league, throw in a rookie that was just shy of 2,000 total yards and it is hard for anyone in the league to compete with what we have to offer.

Sad but true. I honestly think Palmer would out play freeman in camp and preseason.

33 years old and a downward spiraling career? No, I'd much rather have Freeman and hope he plays good. I'm sure that's what the FO wants too. But in case it doesn't, Palmer is a stop gap fix til we find someone else.
