Solid signing, nothing special.

They love our scraps. Interesting to see an outspoken guy with Belichick. Doubt it lasts long, but we'll see.

The pats love everybody's scraps.

When Al gave him that contract, BB defended Al pretty vocally. He has always seemed to like Kelly's game.

Dearderick and Love are good against the run but don't get much push against the Pats. Kelly hopefully will give that for 20-25 snaps a game about 1/2 the snaps that he played last year, 750 plus snaps is too much to ask of a 32 YO guy.

I love this signing for the Pats.

When Kelly is motivated, he is a quality player. The Pats will motivate him and he will have a nice twilight to his career.

Assuming he plays end in the 3-4?

The Pats haven't run a 3-4 since 2010 (and even then, they were in a 40 front more often than not because of their extensive sub package usage and the occasional 4-3 look)

I though they had three down about 10% of the time last year, although some games they seemed never to be in a 3-4 the whole game.

Will be a solid interior pass rusher for thr Pats, although penalties and lack of any disipline against the run get old. Fast.

I like this better than the Haynesworth signing, Haynesworth had made enough money where he was ready to quit football. I think Tommy Kelly still would like another contract.

I think Kelly signed the biggest D-line contract ever about 5 years ago with the Raiders. He's made a lot of money.

In addition, he is 32 and signed a 2 year deal with the Pats. He is never going to get a new big contract anymore.

As for the signing, imo a very nice move for the Pats, especially considering the contract value. I don't think he is a very good starter, but imo he will be used as a rotational guy (in the 10% 3-4 snaps he'll be a DE, and he can get a bunch of snaps as dt in the 4-3).
