Surprising considering Chiefs fans were telling me how talented he was and that he was the best slot corner in the divison by a long way even after last season.

Would that be them drastically overrating there talent levels yet again?

Not sure who said that, the best? Hell no. But a good slot corner nonetheless.

I like Arenas the player and think he fits nicely in Arizona's D.

That said I don't mind the trade, Arenas is better than a #4 CB and he was definitely gone next year.

The problem as I see it is more than likely Dunta Robinson will be gone as well after 2013 as his cap hit jumps significantly from $2,750,000 in 2013 to $5,350,000 in 2014 and $5,700,000 in 2015.

As of now considering we are pretty close to the salary cap, the Robinson contract seems a little bit rich considering he was signed before free agency.

I'm a huge fan of Arenas' and I loathe this trade. The reason I like him so much is not only is he an above average cover man as a NB, but he's also able to step in and start on the outside without a decline in his level of play. In fact, I liked what I saw from him more on the perimeter than I did as the nickel. Couple that with the fact that he's a very good punt returner and you have a very valuable player for only one roster spot.

I hate this trade, but apparently, Arenas requested a trade and kept it out of the media. Because of how classy he handled the situation, I guess I can live with it.

No i saw some games he had his moments, and sure as hell had the talent coming out of college. They have wemt through a lot in KC overall over the last few years, i can see how a talented kid can simply lose his focus and consistency and just couldnt put it together.

No. He requested a trade after we signed Dunta and Smith and it cleared up cap space that we needed since we didn't trade Albert.

I think PFF had him rated as the 3rd best nickel corner in the league last season. And the eye test would attest to that as well. He is a really good nickel corner.

Love this deal from an Arizona perspective. Sherman had absolutely no value in Arians system, and just could have easily been released. Arenas is a competant nickel/slot guy, and in the NFL right now, you can't have enough adequate cornerbacks.

Always thought Arenas was overrated, not a bad trade really if Sherman is a good scheme fit.

Arenas was terrible in the slot last year. I don't mind trading him at all. I don't get why we traded for a FB AND drafted one, but...

I always liked Arenas and it's a fullback you are giving up. Even a great one is just a fullback and still not worth a ton. I like the move for the Cardinals and think it's kind of dumb for the Chiefs. You can sign a fullback off the streets, and if not, who cares? Don't use fullback sets?

It's not like Andy is running power-I formations. He just wants a guy to block or get checkdowns. You can just have a HB or TE do that. Then for the Cardinals, you can never have too many corners so even if he's a bust he still has potential for depth and special teams.

Reid is going to do to Fullbacks, what Belichick did to Tight Ends. Defenses are going to be so confused by Reids 3 FB offense. Alex Smith will be able to dump it off to one of our FB's for 2 yards all game. Laughing

Glad to see Andy adapting his offense. Cool

Now I could have sworn multiple chiefs fans were saying he was one of the best nickel backs in the league.

what gives?

I think this is a good move for Arizona. They have a solid rotation at DB now, IMO. Their rebuilding process won't be nearly as long as their record last year would indicate

I'd agree.

He's okay but allowed way to many catches for my liking, he shut down Wes Welker but that's about it.

Can be a great punt returner if you can block for him, which is too bad because I was excited in what I'd see from him in Toub's Special Teams.

As far as best nickel? No, I would have disagree before the trade as much as I do now.
