I absolutely loathe McCarron. Different QB for the Vikes, please.

If the Chargers are picking inside the Top 10 (not that it's the case here, but it's most definitely the case for the mocks projecting us to pick in the Top 5 - which really isn't terribly realistic... possible sure, but not terribly realistic), we have to be realistic and expect them to likely part ways with Rivers and look at a new QB.

Rivers has shown he can function behind a lackluster OL when he can at least find protection in the scheme and having a ready "bail-out" option available to him - 2010 showed that (you know, back when we were on our 3rd string center, starting a UDFA collegiate guard at LOT, and had to bring in well-over-the-hill Jon Runyan at one point). OTA's are only OTA's, but what little can be gleaned from them right now is enough to tell us that this isn't going to be a rehash of Norv's "live and die by the deep ball (and 7 step drop)" offense that tried to get Rivers killed last season.

Now trust me, I fully expect us to be horribly mediocre this year. But if we're picking higher in 2014 than we were this year, I don't see the front office being terribly willing to pay Rivers $20 million in 2014 (when he's no longer guaranteed any sum after this year) when he'd likely be a significant part of the reason should a worse record than last season's result. Then throw in that you're projecting two of the higher ceiling'd (it literally pained me to use such poor English) QB prospects (particularly in terms of football IQ meeting athletic threshold) in Mariota and Hogan declaring (and available). I just don't see them passing on a QB inside if picking that high (and if they don't, then they're leveraging one of those QB's being available - or the choice between the two - for an opportunity to trade back).

We could definitely use a 3rd string QB in the 2nd round!

He's a fan of two teams. The other being the Vikings.

To what he said, clearly the Vikings would hope McCarron would be more than a 3rd stringer for them.

Anyway, this mock is old. I may do a new one in the next few days. I've been thinking about it lately as I get pretty bored and I miss football.
