I can understand the hate for Baltimore's Defense, but that defense did just win a superbowl playing a bend but don't break scheme with little to no pass rush, a "stud" MLB who couldn't move or tackle, and a FS who was more fragile than Bob Sanders...They were still good when it needed to be, and they just got a helluva lot better.
Would I rank them above Pittsburgh? Probably not, but Pittsburgh also just lost their only good corner outside of Ike and lost their only other pass rusher (I'm not sold on Worilds).

Only time will tell, I think Baltimore will either be hit or miss. They'll be top-5 or they'll be bottom-5. They have all the talent there to be a top-5 defense, they just need to put it all together.
To the first bold line, none of that is true. Their pass rush looked just fine after Suggs returned from injury. Not top in the league or anything, but very servicable. Ray was still playing at a high enough level. Maybe not to the standard he set during the earlier years of his career, but he led the league in post-season tackles by a lot and was still a top ten ILB in football. Reed had some injury issues sure, but comparing his issues to Sanders is ridiculous and laughable.

To the next bold segment,That is yet to be proven, but I don't see how people actually believe they undoubtably got better. Huff/Elam < Reed/Pollard. Even the diminished Reed we saw last year is better than Huff. While he has made strides since looking like a bust early on, Huff is a very average player. Pollard played great in the scheme Baltimore runs, and Elam is a complete unknown (granted, with upside). Canty is a solid unspectacular player so I don't see any vast improvement there. Spears is a back-up caliber DL. Dumerville can help the pass-rush in obvious passing situations, but is a complete liability against the run and in coverage and tends to disappear for long periods of time. All in all I don't see any addition besides Smith that I would be too excited about, besides maybe Brown (but he does have issues as well).

To the red, I actually disagree with the boom or bust label. I think the team veterans they do have (Suggs, Ngata, Webb) are great, and will assure this team is at least middle of the pack. My prediction is right around the 8-12 range in total defense. Better than average, but not quite elite. It is very difficult to field a top defense when there is so much turnover in FA.

better than the ravens.

Did you just call Ray Lewis a MLB who couldn't move or tackle?

What the hell is going on

Also, I honestly think Cinci is a bit high.

No one on that Dline scares me a great deal besides Atkins.

Didn't you know?

Rolando McClain > Ray Lewis.

Maybe it's because I have confidence in our Oline, but I think Schwartz and Joe T can contain your Ends and while Geno is a beast, Mack is a top 5 Center and I don't expect him to get dominated.

I'm not that high on your LB's

Understandable. I've said it before but no one handles our D-Line better than the Browns. I do have faith in Dunlap doing better this year against Schwartz but we'll see.

The other person I'm hoping steps up this season is Devon Still. Having Mack + a guard blocking Geno leaves a lot of one on ones which we didn't exploit well enough last season...

How about your guards? Geno much more often lines up against a guard.

Okay, I'll take your word for it - but he was a 'high-motor-low-ceiling' talent until he showed showed his athleticism at the Combine.

I never got that. dude had 3 dozen TFLs as a guy who mostly played DT. People forget he was a pass-batting fool in college too.
