I honestly don't care what the dog looks like, I will admit though, I am more of a short snout guy.

Both my Boston's are short snout, and all I've had before that were Boxer's.

Heh. Got another Boston since this post. He's a little over a year now. Has the same birthdate as me. Very Happy

Middle youngest, left is the female, and right oldest.

Female (bella)

Oldest. Buddy.

I want a German Shepard or a Husky for my next dog. Can't decide though, both amazing dogs, help!

Husky's scare the crap out of me Laughing .

Both are good watch dogs and you can't go wrong with either. I like German Shepard's better though.

My chow mix is about 13 years but going strong! Obviously has less energy now or it just seems like it next to the Lab. Just hope it could last a few more years.

What breed?

shih tzu/bichon mix. When we were in Florida, we went to a puppy shop and it was like the size of my palm.

Also, have a cocker spaniel that we adopted. Frikin love this dog to death. I remember iPwn and i got into an argument a while back because of how much I love cocker spaniels. I said they were GOAT and he was trying to disprove me.

I love my cocker spaniel, Molly. She's the sweetest dog ever.

Dogs are the best.

I have had a in the house since I was born.

My Fiance doesn't like animals, but i'm gonna force this on her lol.

She knows that eventually I will have a dog. It's more about finances right now than anything.

Plus our new house has 3/4 of the backyard fenced in.

Can't wait.

Any certain breed you're looking to get? I know a couple people up your way.

Had a few golden retrievers but i'm not overly excited about the massive shedding lol

I'm not sure if i'm going breeder or what. My mom does work with the humane society so she would probably slap me if I didn't go to a shelter.

There's certainly nothing wrong with going with a breeder (if you go with one who does the appropriate health clearances, breeds to the respective breed standard, and stays involved with the puppy for the entirety of its lifetime and always there to take the dog back if you can't keep it for any reason) over getting a dog from a shelter.

Of course, if you aren't able to pay for a pup from that kind of breeder, by all means...go with a dog from the shelter or a breed rescue.

When I was living with my parents we always had dogs. I had one myself, she was an austrailian terrier/cocker spaniel mix. I would like another one but with my work schedule it wouldnt be fair to the dog. The only thing I hate about dogs is when you have to put them down.

I didnt want to create my own thread for this, but I am in the market for pet health insurance. Who are the top providers? My dog is getting to be that age (5 years old) where it may be worth considering.

Wow i didn't know that such a thing existed. Is it worth it?

How much does it cost annually? How much do vet visits cost? What does the insurance cover? How much is the deductible?

Just curious.

Deductibles vary depending on the type of coverage you want. It isn't exactly like human medical insurance though. Normally you pay the vet costs up front, and the insurance reimburses you afterward.

It doesn't cover regular vet exams, just surgeries, etc. To answer vikingsrule's question, I've heard a lot of good things about VPI or if your dog is AKC registered, their insurance program is pretty good as well.
