No surprise to see this. As soon as Shanahan benched RG III you knew he was as good as gone come season's end. Going to be interesting to see who Washington gets to replace him as that should be a coveted position given the team and its history.

Rather as soon as it looked like Shanahan would finish the season with less than 5 wins, you knew he was good as gone. This wasn't Snyder reacting to the RG3 benching, this was Snyder reacting to horrible coaching for the past 4 years sans one 7 game stretch.

RG3 played like garbage all year, injury or not. It has been inferred and implied at various points of the season that he did not take well to criticism from Mike and Kyle. RG3 now gets his wish...Mike is gone. Your star QB soured on your HC and poisoned the well for the rest of the roster.

The problem I have with most fans, and most on the Redskins board, is how short term our memories are. Very few remember the state of the Redskins in 2009. That team was a mess everywhere - scouting, personnel moves, coaching, roster, PR. A true disaster. Mike Shanahan and Bruce Allen spent a lot of time cleaning up operations for the franchise.

Shanahan is saying the salary cap penalty was debilitating, and it was, especially when you factor in the three missing picks from the RG3 trade. Nevertheless, the Redskins have good offensive pieces (top 3 LT, top 6 RB, a franchise QB per se, and a #1 receiver).

For all the things that went wrong from January 2013 to now, this franchise operates far better and more cohesively than it did pre-Shanahan.

When you lose faith in a coach, you have to move on...the problem is choosing a successor. I have little faith in Dan Snyder to do the right thing, hiring Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan was a good football move that I doubt will be replicated this time around.

Are you serious? RG3 was the only reason your team was any good at all last year. Get a clue. I love Redskins fans and their franchise, but people like you make me hope they are terrible for the next 10 years, because you can't even enjoy success without trying to cause negativity. Your pointing fingers at the wrong people trying to cast blame and hate on someone who despite coming off injury, decided to play for that team and city and not just sit on the bench and let that team die. There are players that would have collected their check and just sat on the bench. I would play with a guy like that any day of the week. Your entire comment was just hilarious. Even your own fellow Redskins fan's don't agree with you.

Gut feeling.

The Redskins hire a new HC with a lot of promise. Says RG3 will be the man for that team and makes a few changes on D/ST and hopes to get that team back on track.

However, RG3 never progresses in 3 years time, gets benched, cut from Washington and ultimately because of RG3's failures, the new coach is fired as well.

I have feeling its going to be a long 3 years for the Redskins before they can get back on track.

I don't trust RG3 as a QB. I think his best bet is to run a pure gimmicky offense and go from there, but outside of that I don't see him succeeding in the NFL much at all anymore.

As a Redskin fan, it kills me to say that I couldn't agree more. Just my opinion, but I don't think RG3 gets 3 more years. If he doesn't show improvement next year I think the team and fans will be ready to move on. RG turned off a lot of Skins fans this year with his on-field and off-field antics.

RGIII played poorly this year and wad a big reason for the team's failure this season. Mechanics were off and decision making was horrific. Last season was last season. What he was last year was not what he was this year. With some humble pie and a commitment to improving his progression reads, he will get back to being that sort of player.

Unfortunately, most fans are not willing to place the blame on Griffin because of the injury. But it is clear that whoever is hired has to fix Griffin first because he needs substantial refinement both on and off the field. He was a PR nightmare this year.
