I hope you're kidding.

He must be one of the Steeler fans that are still upset that we took him away from the Steelers, or he doesn't know that MV has been coaching LB's and the DL at OSU for the past 3 years.

Good hire by B.O.B.

Why would we be upset?

Good for him. Always was a good player, and seemed to be a good person too. Should do well as a coach.

I was kidding, and to whoever asked, no I'm not upset. The Steelers did alright for themselves after letting Vrabel go.

Good hire for the Texans. I think he'll be a great coach for the Texans, and hopefully someday move up in the ranks.

BTW, is Vrabel's family from Pennsylvania? I've seen a sign that had the name Vrabel's on it...

MV would have been a multiple time pro bowler in the Steelers attacking style D, but he was buried on the depth chart behind Kirkland, Porter and Gildon, opportunities were lost on both sides.

From what I've always heard of the guy, he is very passionate about the game, very much like OBrain in his energy. Makes sense he would want Mike. Extremely smart, players will love him. A great hire IMO.

If Munchak also gets hired in Houston. They'll have one hell of a coaching staff. Not sure about Romeo as a DC but we'll see,

Edit: typos, on my phone

I personally see this as a great hire. From what I've seen/heard, people love playing for Vrabes. Being a very young guy when it comes to coaches, the players easily relate with him, on top of him being a former player helps garner himself even more "cred" with the players.

Any Ohio State fans out there who can fill us in on how well you think he did as the LB coach up there in Columbus? It would be interesting to see how you guys felt/the type of job he did.

Personally, I'd take him as our LB coach down here in Atlanta any day of the week. Nothing against our current LB coach, Glenn Pires, who I know absolutely nothing about, but if we could bring Vrabel in I would dump Pires immediately.

It's impossible for me to say what all was wrong with our defense this year. We had guys underperform. Losing Christian Bryant really hurt our secondary and made them worse than they already were. Vrabel coached the d-line which was the lone bright spot. Then again Noah Spence was a 5 star recruit ranked as the #1 DE in his class. He also got a lot out of Joey Bosa.

It's tough for me to give a fair evaluation on Vrabel. He was an excellent recruiter, but the last 3 years have been the worst Buckeye defenses I've ever seen.

He could have maybe been good given the chance, but LB wasn't a position that the Steelers were ever really lacking much at during the span of MV's career, so there's not much reason for fans to be upset he left.

He was not part of the problems with OSU's defense. Sad to see him go. Firey guy who was good with the players and recruiting.
