A debate for another time and in another thread IMO.

Certainly Chuck Noll's legacy places him among the greats. Pittsburgh and Ohio and Green Bay and Chicago have seen their share. Wink

May the Lord richly bless Chuck, a true gentleman!

Chuck Noll is the Horatio Alger story of a man from Cleveland on a mission. He worked his way through Benedictine, Dayton, and military. Chuck was self effacing and never considered himself important. Over the years, I met him several times as his wife worked for a MD friend of my parents and he was the most humble as well as thoughtful person I have met.

A class act gentleman who proved you can not stop a man on a mission and he demonstrated his faith by the fact he won more Super Bowls than anyone.

I was too young to really see Chuck Noll coach too much, most of us are well aware of the greatness he bestowed upon the Steelers Organization and the NFL. As great of a coach as he was, from all the portrayal I've seen and heard, he was an even better person.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He will be missed eternally.

Think for a second Imagine your Team losing for 40 yrs, never winning anything not even a divisonal title, being the laughing stock of the NFL "SAME OLE STEELERS. Then in a 10 yr span your team goes on to win 8 divisional titles, 8 straight playoff appreances, 4 AFC Titles, and 4 Superbowls in 6 yrs. Coached 11 Hall of Famers. Very Impressive, Dont know if we'll ever see anything like this again from any coach with free Agency going on, and a salary cap. We were Blessed and Lucky to have such a Legend come into our City and Hearts and taught us how to win. Brought Pride to the City. From Steeler Nation Charles (Chuck) Henry Noll simply "THANK YOU" RIP EMPEROR CHAZ

This happened while I was on vacation, and it still hasn't totally sunk in yet. R.I.P. Chuck Noll, and thank you for everything you did to turn a perpetual laughingstock of a team into one of the NFL's crown jewels.

Great post. Noll is one of my most favorite coaches ever, and the 70's Steelers are one of my most favorite teams ever. He will be missed.
