It means he already beat out Case Keenum, T.J. Yates and fourth-round rookie Tom Savage.

Fitzpatrick made 75 starts in his career for the Rams, Bills and Titans and has thrown 106 TDs and 93 INTs in addition to 16,790 yards.

Fitzpatrick is a solid veteran option but might be replaced during the season if he struggles.

Good for him. I wish him the best of luck. Always like Fitz a lot. It's a shame it never quite worked out for him, but I'll be rooting for him to pull it all together and have a great year.

This decision makes me considerably more pro-Texans this year.

the right choice IMO. Give the kid a year to groom if possible.

JJ Watt is so over rated if he can't even best out this guy for the job.

This is barely news. Fitzpatrick is far and away the best out of that bunch. Which is hilarious, but still.

No surprise here. Easily the best QB of the bunch.

For now, they haven't signed Tebow yet, another week or two.

JJ Watt is touted as an all-pro but can't even beat out a journeyman QB.

He was pretty much named the starter as soon as his signed his contract with us. Not news. That means he will be our stop gap QB until Savage is ready or if we decide to go QB early in next year's draft.

A news article that comes with a sitcom laugh track, fantastic.

Alternatively .... and that's why Andre Johnson is holding out.

This isn't really news. It can go in the team forum.
