Just when we finally got a linebacker that knows how to play the position. Jameel McClain is probably going to take over at MLB.

The packers have to wait a couple of weeks into the season for their injuries to start piling up.

Yup, I'm the same. Beason has always been a great defensive leader. I was glad he tore it up in NY last year.

Yep he has a great attitude, a magnetic personality, and seems to a great person. I'd root for him no matter what team he was on. Sucks to see him get so many tough breaks.

@art_stapleton: Giants say LB Jon Beason does not need surgery on his foot: 6 weeks immobilization (3 in cast, 3 in boot), then re-evaluated. #NYG

No surgery for beason

It's good news that surgery isn't required, but I'm getting flashbacks of when I broke my foot last year. I spent 6 weeks in a boot and lost a ton of muscle in my leg, especially my calf. It became nothing but flab. The size difference between legs was eerie.

While it will certainly be harder for Beason to exercise his calves, I'm sure pro football players have a way around this nowadays.

Yeah, I imagine there are a number of different things they can inject him with to ensure the muscle loss is minimal. I didn't exactly have top of the line medical treatment like Beason. Laughing

Quote:
ESPN Giants reporter Dan Graziano doesn't expect MLB Jon Beason (foot) to be ready for Week 1.

Graziano writes it "seems likely" Beason won't be back for the opener after suffering a ligament tear and small fracture in his foot during OTAs. Beason managed to avoid surgery, but is facing a 12-week recovery timetable. The Giants are expected to start Jameel McClain at MIKE in the short term, with Spencer Paysinger and rookie Devon Kennard competing on the strong side. Beason remains on track to resume practicing sometime in September.

That is just a guess on Graziano's part. There is way too much time before Week 1 to make an accurate prediction. Graziano is just leaning on the safe side

A Broken foot that doesn't require surgery honestly, might just be the 2nd best scenario he could ask for (a sprain would've been less severe). It's not something that'll end his season and it is something he can get back from during the season, if not before it even begins. Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery.
