In this thread we heard:

Gostkowski sucks - cut him immediately
Brady is awful without Gronkowski
This team is awful
The game is over (Pats losing 17-13)
The D sucks and can't come up with a stop

What actually happened:

Gostkowski, yes he struggled on the earlier miss, but he hit a key FG to bring the game within one point

Brady led a great late 4th quarter TD drive with Gronk nowhere to be found

The team went on the road to beat a pesky divisional foe who, despite their record, always plays the Pats tough

The D effectively iced the game with a key takeaway

Hope we all learned something today.

Hey don't forget about this one:

The DL is just bad. It's going to be an issue from now until September.

What actually happened: DL gets the strip sack to win the game Razz

Long certainly came through. He's the one guy on that unit who seems to be consistent. He's not great, but he's been steady in both aspects of the game. I'd like to see him more and less Ninkovich at DE. Keep Ninkovich standing up like he was yesterday

DL in general is a problem though. It will take a lot more big plays like that to convince me otherwise. If Sheard can find his 2015 form and Malcom Brown can find some level of consistency, the DL can be decent enough but it's still an under-talented unit which struggles on the edges in the run game and in the middle in the pass game.

Flowers has been arguably the best player on the DL the last few weeks.

This makes me unreasonably happy

The level of anxiety watching Tom out there blocking is like watching a puppy trying to cross a busy highway Sad

I honestly can't believe none of the Jets took an opportunity to light him up though. I actually gained a shred of respect for them just for that.

I can only imagine what a scumbag like Vontaze Burfict would do. Probably a flying kick to the knee and then get him in a figure four leg lock. After the game he'd say something like, "I did what I had to do to take him out of the play. I'm just playing football."

this play really cracked me up Laughing I was shocked one of the Jets players didn't take a shot at him.

he seems to have found his niche rushing the passing over the C on 3rd down.

A couple good breakdowns by Reiss show what defensive scheme the Pats were using most and who was playing: http://www.espn.com/blog/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4797931/evolving-patriots-defense-taking-small-steps-in-the-right-direction and http://www.espn.com/blog/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4797897/rotation-kept-chris-long-fresh-for-when-it-counted-on-final-strip-sack.

What I took from it: On passing plays, the Patriots rushed 4 or 5 (19x) more than they rushed 2 or 3 (15x). That was a bit surprising to me. Now, some of that may have been playcalling-based, ie. if the Jets threw on an early down and the Patriots had personnel in to stop the run, they would have four DL in there. On more obvious passing plays, they may have been rushing 2 or 3 more often.

Also, a quote from Reiss: "This was a game mostly played with two linebackers, as the Patriots were in their 4-2-5 nickel package for the majority of snaps." Harmon only played 19 snaps. Again interesting. I would have thought they were in the dime more often. At most they were in it for 19 out of 57 defensive snaps.
