With that said, does anybody expect Mike Glennon to be a successful starter in Chicago?

I don't. Jay Cutler was the best QB in Bears history in all statistical categories, aside from wins. Fun fact: Cutler has the most TD passes at Soldier Field. The second most belongs to Brett Favre. I haven't seen good management from the Bears to give me any inkling that they will do better.

It depends what you mean by successful I guess. I don't think he will light the world on fire and set passing record but I think you can build a team around him and "win". I don't fear him but I think he can provide consistent slightly above average play. I'll guess he's going to have a passer rating in the high 80s over the next couple years and be much less of a rollercoaster ride than they've had there with Cutler. I don't think he'll elevate the team solely on his play but I don't think he will hold them back either.

Being critical of other team's decisions isn't bashing. We had a very healthy discussion about the consequences both positive and negative regarding similar moves that both the Vikings and Falcons made, and there's literally NOTHING that is against forum rules or even in bad taste.

Now, your post on the other hand...

If money was the major factor, sure it makes sense. Seattle and Detroit were apparently offering similar money, but the chance to go home seems to be what won Lang over.

Lol at somebody thinking I was bashing rival teams. I bash any team that takes a receiver higher than 24-ish, especially those that do it repeatedly. It just so happens each team in the division has done it.

Combine that with the guaranteed money on his deal and it was a no brainer for Lang. I read he got 66% of his salary guaranteed while the highest % for any other not rookie multiple year contract is 52%.

Nobody takes me seriously and that's fine by me, I'm just another schmoe on a message board. Didn't you get the memo ?

I'm feeling extra magnanimous today so I will give you a free peek under the Green & Gold tent:

Same. I'm not any important person on this site.

Someday I'd like to see the purple and gold stop tripping over their own 2 feet and finally win something!

Philly isn't a rival yet, but they seem to be ascending and they have Wentz (who I really like).

Quote:
When NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah asked five NFL personnel executives to identify one quarterback from the past two draft classes around which to build a winner, three opted for Wentz while the other two chose Titans franchise cornerstone Marcus Mariota.

It'll be interesting to see what he can do in Year 2 with actual NFL talent at WR.

Jeffery, Smith, Matthews and Ertz could be a great combo.

I wouldn't rule out 30 TDs for Wentz.

I'm not drinking the kook aid yet.

Started off hot (7TDs 1INT 3 100+ passer rating games) in his first four games. Those were against the 18th, 23rd, 31st, and 32nd ranked defenses in passer rating allowed last year. After that stretch he was pretty terrible (9TDs 13INTs 0 100+ passer rating games).

They may have a pretty good offense but that dude himself will never scare me. He's a game manager IMO.

I would actually, and by that I mean if "successful" means not being a complete liability and keeping the team in games by being a good game manager like Alex Smith. They've got a decent RB now, a decent OL, ok receivers but that defense has more holes than swiss cheese.

Does anyone else see something wrong with the following paragraph that was published today in the Seattle Times?

Quote:
Sherman’s pride was an impediment for much of the season last year. It will be an invaluable asset if he gets the chance to show his former team up. Hey, perhaps there is still a way to fix all of this. Perhaps Carroll proves himself as a master mediator, or Sherman has an epiphany, or the team rattles off six straight wins at the beginning of the season and the chemistry is renewed. And then maybe all this becomes a laughable blip within the Seahawks’ dynasty.

Laughing

People are nuts if they think it's a good idea for us to get Sherman.

1. He wouldn't be able to do what he does in Seattle if he played here. Therefore, he means more to Seattle and a lot of other teams than he does to us.

2. He is 29 years old. Don't say, "We got Woodson at 30," we signed Woodson at 30. There's a significant difference. Additionally, Woodson was a sub 4.4 prospect, and Sherman was barely a sub 4.6 prospect. Woodson thrived in every single role he was put in. Sherman wouldn't.

3. It would cost us more than it would cost other teams. Unless people here actually think that the Seahawks would trade their best player of the last 7 years to their biggest conference rival over the past 7 years.

4. Seahawks want a player plus a high pick. Where's that player coming from? You want to give up OL and then our first? WR? Damarious Randall? Who are we giving up, and is a high pick a first or a second?

I think some people don't think.

I was definitely referencing the fact that the author of that article referred to the last few NFL seasons of the Seahawks' as a dynasty.
