Strange that there isn't a Thursday night game on there

They took out that requirement

Five teams that don't have a Thursday night game: Vikings, Jaguars, Browns, Lions, Chargers (Vikings, Lions and Chargers all play on Thanksgiving Day).

Dang, I might be in the minority here, but I like Thursday night games

4 of 5 at home, followed by 5 of 6 on the road. kind of stupid.

bye is ok. Easy schedule early on, will be tough in the 2nd half.

And for once, I would like to have GB at home late in the season. We always play in Lambeau in December. Always.

Off the top of my heads, non "top" road teams, were getting wreaked on Thursday night games.

ALL Road teams 5-12, 3 wins were DAL/PIT/ATL

I got no problems with the schedule.
Teams were set already just the placement during the year.

- Starting on MNF is meh, but its early game so thats ok. But its gonna put us behind the 8 ball facing PIT on road on the short week, so I'm giving that a L.
- VERY favourable from week 3 to week 8.
- Great week 9 bye
- week 10 favourable game after the bye on the road vs WAS (traditionally struggle with) so good schedule positioning.
- week 11 LA at home, instead of on the West coast is a big plus
- week 12 Rematch at DET on thanksgiving.
- week 13/14 @ ATL and @ CAR, good tests late in the year, and due to close proximity of these teams, we may stay in the South East instead of doing the travel back to MIN and back there
- week 15 vs CIN is fine
- week 16, good prep time for @ GB, since we're at home week before
- week 17, sufficient time to prepare for vs CHI

This is a very favourable schedule, in terms of placement.
I see low travel outside of London trip, which is the biggest benefit.

7-1 opening is ripe for the taking

I'm okay with the schedule...in fact, I actually like the fact that 5 of the first 7 are at home. I'm not a fan of the GB/Chi back to back to end the season again, but it is what it is.

And while people may complain about the 4 out of 6 on the road to end the season, I look at it differently. I actually look at it as having 2 out of 3 at home to end the season with 5 out of 6 on the road previous to that. I like the 2 out of 3 at home to end the season.

The road games aren't tremendously daunting (I'm still not a fan of the NFC South teams, so the road games there aren't really difficult matchups for the Vikings) outside of the Heinz Field game and the difficulty they always have with Washington.

but as others said, I could see us getting off to a hot start and then falling off.

I see us going somewhere between 7-10 wins. I don't think Detroit will be as good as they were last year, I expect Green Bay to be much better, Atlanta will cool down, Baltimore will be tough etc.

I'm very interested for the first two games though. New Orleans is no slouch, even though they haven't made the playoffs in a while. our defense must play better than they did later in the season if we're going to win that game.

and finally, I'll be at the game vs Pittsburgh! Cool

New Orleans is a slouch as they haven't proven to be able to stop anyone on defense regardless of how many changes they make. 4 out of the last 5 years they've finished 7-9. I don't expect this year to be any different. They are the definition of middling team with a middling coach, even if they've not accepted it yet.

Call me overly optimistic, but I expect the Vikings to bounce back this season and get somewhere between 9-11 wins.

Zimmer brought up an interesting point in his Wobby interview about that game. The turf at Heinz Field should still be in decent shape in Week 2.

Not great on the road, either. 3-5 last year with wins over San Diego (35-34), San Francisco (41-23) and Arizona (48-41).

During next week’s NFL draft, about two dozen Vikings employees will pack into the team’s war room armed with computers, phones and binders filled with information on hundreds of prospects.

Fifty years ago, it was three guys in a hospital room.

The first NFL-AFL combined draft was held March 14-15, 1967 at the Gotham Hotel in New York. While Vikings equipment manager Jim “Stubby” Eason manned a phone there, general manager Jim Finks was back in the Twin Cities with coach Bud Grant and scout Jerry Reichow.

Interesting list put together by Arif, ranking the 2014 draft class using PFF and BR1000 grades.

Full article here

Barr ranked 24th and Teddy ranked 13th. No one else made the list until Stephen at 124 and McKinnon at 133.
