Jalen Reeves-Maybin LB 6'0" 230lbs
Quote: | STRENGTHS Early responder after the snap. Loves to play downhill and is always headed in that direction when necessary. Will not hesitate to take a chance and shoot a gap. Uniquely instinctive. Will rarely get trapped too far downhill that he can't bounce out of the side door to chase when needed. Plays square and shifts and shuffles to his run fits. Easy, fluid chaser with desired flexibility in lower body for sudden change of direction. Runs well and can chase in coverage. Has burst to ball carrier as tackler. Can spring quickly into action with bounce and explosion as lateral tackler from one gap to the next. Has coverage talent. Outstanding eyes. Somehow manages to find ball carrier through all the visual trash. Stalks with patience and calm. Productive special-teams tackler. |
Quote: | WEAKNESSES Lacks size and pop to stop runners in their tracks and often takes brunt of initial impact. Needs to run feet through impact to prevent sliding off his tackles. Forced to give away gap leverage to avoid being devoured by big, climbing linemen in run game. Scouts say he appears to have lost functional weight while injured. Was lost for season after first four games due to injury and subsequent surgery to shoulder. Injury history with shoulder is a substantial concern. |

He had an injury. Before that, he was healthy for two seasons at Tennessee. |

I really like this pick if only because I love his athletic ability at OLB. |

He had a ton of hype coming off the 2015 season, the attention for him fell off last year because of the injury. _________________

He is an absolute beast on special teams.
If he can stay healthy, you guys got a steal. Just keep blockers off of him and let him fly. I thought he would be best in a Deone Buchanan role. _________________

Apparently, he's the cousin of Cameron Maybin.
Tahir Whitehead
Jarrad Davis
Paul Worrilow
Jalen Reeves-Maybin
Antwione Williams
We just got really deep at LB. |

I don't know if we got deep at LB but we sure have gotten faster. More instinctive. And as far injury concerns then you wouldn't draft almost anyone because everyone has injury issues. Stafford should be gone if that was the case. Like the pick from a speed and instinct standpoint. And once again he can blitz also. _________________ You Mix it up and I'll drink it, I am the Kool-Aid Man. |

This guy is our Levy replacement imo. Guy can be a screen killer with his ability to read-react and just flat out fly to the football. He'll be used in sub-packages as a rookie, but can be a starter in year 2 if he puts in the work. I love that we came out of this draft with 2 linebackers that have + insticts and + athleticism. Something we really lacked last season. _________________
