This might be more important than the QB battle between Savage and Watson. who is going to protect them?

We know that Duane Brown is penciled in as the starting LT. We know that Newton is out for the season.

I feel like every other position is up for grabs. Right now we have a starting 5 that is the same as our playoff run

Brown/Filo/Mancz/Allen/Clark

now for all the uproar over us needing to upgrade the line, they really werent that terrible. That weren't that great either, but they werent that terrible.

If I had to guess, i would say there is a 3 man battle for the C/RG between Allen/Martin/Mancz. Martin gives us basically another 2nd round draft pick to put in and if nothing else give us depth.

The other interesting battle will be between vet Chris Clark and rookie Julien Davenport. Davenport had 2nd round potential, but he played at such a small school that he is largely an unknown. It is possible that he takes the job right away and moves to LT in a year or two, but most likely he starts the season battling Lamm for the swing tackle position.

It should be interesting. We have the makings of a young o-line with Filo/Martin/Mancz/Davenport all being 26 or younger. In fact brown and clark are the only guys we have over 30 on the entire offense (and our 3rd string QB, who shouldnt see any time.).

in fact only Cushing and JJoe are over 30 on D. We really do have a young team, coming off back to back division titles.

Don't sleep on Kyle Fuller who I think was a steal in the 7th. Dude has tackle size at 6' 5" 307 and 34 1/8" and was a huge part of the always underrated Baylor running game. Yes, all things Baylor got tainted this year and prior Baylor OL performance likely factored in as well, but with a little coaching up, he absolutely has potential to be a solid backup with much more upside than Mancz who was a pleasant surprise last season. The penalty issue was weird this year, but the Big 12 has a history of using officials to try to engineer "convenient" results and this quirky snap penalty seemed like it came straight from the Stoops empire. Remember, the Stoops/Saban whining in 2015 led to the ridiculous "umpire stands over the football until the defense is ready" adjustment because poor blue blood defenses couldn't keep up with the spread.

I will say that we have good history with taking later round linemen(non 1st or 2nd) and making them serviceable.

2006 3rd rounder Eric Winston was solid for us
2011 7th rounder Derreck Newton was coming on the last few years
2012 4th rounder Ben Jones is still playing well for another team

so if we can get the same thing out of Davenport
