Hello everyone, new guy here Anxious

A few weeks ago, I came across three articles on canalstreetchronicles.com that urged me to join this site so I could share them with yall.

It turns out that the Saints have representative squads from Offense, Defense, and Special Teams in the top 30 units of the last 30 years.
More specifically, the top 30 offenses, the top 30 defenses, and the top 30 STs of the last 30 years.
So if my math is correct, that is the top 30 units out of 960 (32 teams for 30 years) within each discipline!
*Actually not 960 since some teams are not 30 years old.

For Special Teams:
1. 2002 New Orleans Saints
13. 1987 New Orleans Saints
https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/2017/6/21/15848868/2002-new-orleans-saints-special-teams-top-honors-past-30-years-john-carney-michael-lewis-toby-gowin

For Defense:
16. 1991 New Orleans Saints
https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/2017/6/20/15844114/1991-new-orleans-saints-defense-named-16th-best-past-30-years-rickey-jackson-sam-mills-pat-swilling

For Offense (you guessed it):
5. 2011 New Orleans Saints
https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/2017/6/21/15844454/2011-new-orleans-saints-offense-named-5th-best-past-30-years-drew-brees-jimmy-graham-darren-sproles

They're drastically underestimating our offenses in other years. We should probably have more than just the 1 slot.

I watched those boys kill folks. Dome Patrol was my life for a handful of years.

That's what I thought too, but I figured it was my homerism.

I wish I could have seen the Dome Patrol live. I was just a couple years old at that time. Any particular moment any of yall remember specifically about that defense or its players?

BTW, it's pretty cool to interact with yall. I remember coming across this site around 2008 when I was in Alaska (Air Force). I worked a desk job
and would often come though here and check out what everyone had to say about our beloved team. I seen everyone get so excited for our
Superbowl run and I was like "Yea that's how I feel!" lol. Been through here on and off since then.

Anyway, thanks for having me...maybe I can take part in the Superbowl fun this time Wink

LOL, I'm only 34. My dad introduced me to the game around 88, I think (I was 5)? I sat down with him and it was just so intriguing to watch. I loved seeing the tackles. It was just awesome to me. So naturally getting to see the boys in essentially their prime was just heaven. Of course, they set an unrealistic expectation for how a defense should play that has since never been met Laughing

My first ever football Jersey was Ricky Jackson #57. I think I was a Freshman or Sophomore in High School, somewhere around 1988-1989

That defense... scary!! If we had a LB corps like we had then, we'd be like the Patriots are today, rarely losing.

2009 should be on the offense list, and maybe a couple other Dome PAtrol years.
