Maybe Tarantino could just play Manson himself.

That or, if Manson is just a bit-part in a larger movie, watch him cast Robert Rodriguez as Charlie.

Robert Rodriguez had done hardly any acting and wouldn't even look the part. I know he's buddies with Tarantino but that would make no sense, even if the role of Manson ends up being a smaller one.

I think people get a little too zeroed-in on an actor "looking the role" and have to consider who the director is and what his past habits with historical figures has been.

With the exception of Joseph Goebbels (and even then you could make a case), QT tends to have certain appearance markers be accentuated by the makeup department on just about everyone else. Churchill's jowls (especially considering Rod Taylor doesn't have any jowls to speak of to begin with), for one. His Hitler looked almost as if they were going out of their way to make him look slightly Jewish (I genuinely thought it was Mandy Patinkin the first time I saw the film).

The main reason Rodriguez came to mind is that his voice sounds the most like Manson's of just about any actor mentioned so far. And my gut tells me that the Manson actor's ability to deliver lines versus to "look the part" will be more important. Legitimately, if the character is treated similarly to the Bill character from Kill Bill, they could go most of the film without ever actually giving a clean shot of his face. And if that's the case, you can achieve a lot with hair and makeup.

Ultimately, I think it's going to just end up being either an unknown character actor or a character actors whose mostly known only because of his appearances in QT films. That's why I've leaned towards James Parks, who pretty much looks the part as well:

Just watched the Darkest Hour trailer. Should we just give Oldman the best actor award now or should we go through the motions?

Yes.

Is there any role this man can't play spectacularly well?

Ready player one trailer just looks like a trip down memory lane.

It looks phat.

Odd choice for a title, though.

To me it's like he's playing a game, and usually a game asks ready, player one? At least that's how I read it.

After the first season the potential for the series is through the roof. I'm excited.

I didn't know that.

Still, all them licensing for Iron Giant, Freddy Krueger, etc. couldn't have been cheap.
