Chiefs 31
Jets 21
The Jets will not be able to keep up with the Chiefs scoring and will find themselves behind. The Chiefs D will probably make a few errors because of still growing together as a unit - but they will also make a few big play turnovers that will swing this game our way. Thats what the new guys bring - individual playmakers that can make a difference. The Chiefs D was horrible in the takeaway dept last year - the year prior they sucked on D just as bad but led the league in takeaways and finished 13-3 ! With this offense - turnovers will just kill opposing teams - they cannot afford to give away possessions against us !
regarding the "old" comments ... Gawd I'm so tired of hearing this age comment thrown about in different sites - forums and other season preview articles ! Lets dispel this deal right now ! This offense has not suddenly transformed itself to old ! As a matter of fact - the offense is younger now overall than it was last year. Younger at WR (Parker, Thorpe, and Mitchell) with Morton gone. The young pass catching TE (Wilson) will be playing alot of h-back and used in other dynamic ways in the pass game that will have him on the field in alot of spots that would have been Tony Richardson so thats more youth. A new RT will be starting this year and Welbourne will be going to a backup jack of all trades kinda role - so that more youth - Blaylock is gone and LJ along with a bunch of other young guys will be the backups - more youth. Yes there is some age on the line in 2 spots - but the O-line of all positions is a position where people play alot longer. Trent Green has only been a starter in the league about 5-6 years total. I guess I'm just tired of hearing the age deal. The only factor age is for the Chiefs offense right now is retirement - not a fall off in play ! Everyones back this year so that age factor is OUT for 05. The window is closing for the offense because of Vermiel expected to be in his last season and Roaf and Shields likely in their last as well - but not because of age ! This offense will be top 5 again (#1 last year)
thats my 2 cents _________________ In Andy We Trust!

i agree with many sayin itll be close, and tht its just preseason;
but i think that the cheifs will need some time to get adjusted with their new "surroundings" with added and dropped players. _________________ <a href="http://img295.echo.cx/my.php?image=boyzindahoodconna0wf.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img295.echo.cx/img295/2272/boyzindahoodconna0wf.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a> |

| Bears fan here. I'm a big fan of the Jets...I like how Pennington runs the offense. That said, I like the Chiefs to have a really nice year this year. I like them in this game 34-31. Great opener between 2 strong offenses. It will take the Chiefs D a few weeks to aclimate themselves to each other but after that I think they can be a slightly above average D (which is good compared to the past few seasons). Chiefs win this one 34-31. |

Well, I really like the Chiefs to win this game and I think they are headed for big things this year. IMO they will go deep in the playoffs and possibly SB. If reports about Ty Law coming to the Chiefs are true, they could have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Their once porous secondary will be transformed into a powerhouse, with Surtain, Law, and Sammy Knight being added. Their LBs are now formidable, with Kendrell Bell and DJ, and I don't think there is any reason why this D can't live up to its potential.
In terms of the offense, there's no reason why it should miss a beat. You still have a great line, Priest Holmes, and Tony Gonzalez, which is plenty to succeed. |

You under estimate the Jets they were the 3rd or 4th best team in the AFC last years and only got better The young D has aged and now have more experience and we added a TE who can catch (not like Tony I'll admit) and Coles. Plus we added Dinger as the new O coordinator. Although both teams have great offenses
I'm going to say Jets 21 to Chiefs 20 very close but there is no substitute for youth and speed. |
