The thing about Ricardo Rodriguez, is that this isn't the first season he's pitched in the majors. He got called up in 2002 by the Cleveland Indians, and he went 2-2 with a 5.66 ERA. He was called up in 2003 by the Indians, and was horrible as well. He went 3-9 with a 5.73 ERA that season. For goodness sake, the guy allowed 16 Home Runs in 2003, in just 15 starts. Then he got called up in 2004 by the Rangers, and was 3-1 with a 2.02 ERA. For his career, he's just 10-13 with a 5.02 ERA. That's not anything for the Yankees to get happy about because they beat him. Here's the comparison between Ricardo Rodriguez and Ervin Santana, in the minor leagues.
Ricardo Rodriguez (166 games; 94 starts) = 48-29, 3.13 ERA, 8 CG, 2 Saves, 603.3 IP, 524 Hits Allowed, 281 Runs Allowed, 210 Earned Runs Allowed, 39 HRs Allowed, 252 Walks, 561 Ks, 11 Wild Pitches, 7.82 Hits Per 9 Allowed, 0.58 HRs Per 9 Allowed, 3.76 Walks Per 9 Allowed, 8.37 Ks Per 9, 1.29 WHIP
Ervin Santana (34 games; 34 starts) = 13-4, 2.91 ERA, 1 CG, 198.0 IP, 162 Hits Allowed, 78 Runs Allowed, 64 Earned Runs Allowed, 16 HRs Allowed, 66 Walks Allowed, 201 Ks, 20 Wild Pitches, 7.36 Hits Per 9 Allowed, 0.73 HRs Per 9 Allowed, 3.00 Walks Per 9 Allowed, 9.14 Ks Per 9, 1.15 WHIP
As you can see, Ervin Santana was far more dominant. Even though it was in less starts, he still put up great numbers. Ervin Santana averaged a K/BB ratio of 3.05/1. Ricardo Rodriguez averaged a K/BB ratio of only 2.22/1. So that tells you the supreme comand that Ervin Santana has. _________________

My whole point was how naive Rodriguez was when he pitched against New York. I didn't think we dominated a great pitcher when we scored a lot of runs on him. I didn't realize Santana wasn't a rookie, and I thought Rodriguez was relativley inexperienced. All I meant by the comparison between the two was the inexperience against MLB hitters. |

Wang isn't coming back buddy. Pavano hasn't been the same as he was in Florida. Another guy the Yanks overpayed for. _________________

Yeah, that is well said. Lets not forget Pavano was roughed up in the game that eventually was 17-1 against the Sox... the first time. |

In NL matchups at their home, does Ortiz still play for Boston? Like 1st base or something. |

Yeah, he plays first base. He is poor at first, but you can't leave that bat on the bench for Kevin Millar |
