Trotter isn't starting and it's a bad system for him. _________________

We have Barrett Ruud as our MLB. This will be his first year starting. He was drafted in 2005 in the second round and has the Nebraska for tackles. We expect him to come in a be a solid player. We really dont have a backup for him right now having lost our two backups for the season due to injury in the preseason. He could be a good fit for us on run plays and when we go to the 3-4 defense from time to time and be a great leader for us in the locker room. |

| He doesn't fit the system but if you had a young kid like Ruud in his first year as a starting MLB, who would you rather have him learn from but Trotter and Brooks? |

This move puzzles me as well. Before I say anything else, I'll say that I've been predicting all off-season long that Gruden will get fired after this season because of bonehead moves like this. He can't develop raw talent. He's horrible at it. Therefore, he brings in big name players that have solid talent in one aspect, and seems to overlook the areas of which the player is lacking in. Take a look at Jeff Garcia for example. The guy had one good string of games filling in as a backup last year, and Gruden fell in love with the guy. News flash: Jeff Garcia has sucked everywhere he has played up until last year. I'm looking for him to return to his old self, now that he's back onto an offense that can't carry him. The same goes for Trotter. June and Brooks both have above average to great zone coverage skills...as does Barrett Ruud and Quincy Black. The only reason this move could make any sense is to teach TB's linebackers how to tackle better, and not give up as many yards after contact as they have in recent years. They've been horrible in that regard. As for Trotter seeing much playing time though, I'm sure Gruden will put him on the field a lot, but I just don't it'll work out in the Buc's favor. _________________

It's a great pickup, but it makes no sense because he doesn't fit their system. _________________
