How long do you guys think that Derrick Brooks will stay with the Bucs?
After this season, his contract escalates from 5.75 million to 7.75 million base salary. After that, in the 2007 season, his contract will rise to 10 million. I don't know many teams that will pay a base salary of 10 mill to a LB.
Just to put it in perspective, Zach Thomas' contract will max at 5.65 million.
Basically, Derrick Brooks will have to take a pay cut very soon, or be traded off. _________________ FF Member #1000

| DB definetly deserves the money for everything he's done for us but this stupid salary cap might cause DB to leave but I don't think the Bucs will let him go no matter what. DB's a buccaneer through and through. It's be a sad day when he retires. We'll miss you DB. |

I'm not happy about this, but the buccs will have some cap space when Alstott retires this year. I think that money could help keep brooks. I have hated the salary cap ever since Lynch left. _________________

Alstott doesn't take up that much cap space, does he? _________________

Alstott makes about 2 mil a year. Still it's cap space. _________________

| I think Brooks and the Bucs do what it takes to keep him on the team. That would be like Favre going somewhere else, too weird, even in the salary cap era. |

Yea, I think Brooks is a pretty loyal player, I could see him adjusting his pay to help the team. We got some money back from releasing Garner. We payed him enough for 1 game. _________________
