I was coming here RIGHT NOW to post this as a new topic but you beat me.

Eli Manning may get it but if you're talking about the better player to get the award then it's Rivers obviously. Rivers is a great QB that is the strength of his team right now. When you're talking about Tomlinson going on a decline and not being the best player on the team anymore, Rivers is their next best player.

Manning is the weak link of the Giants team. Defense is great from the front seven to the secondary. Great OL, great WRs, top-notch running game, Kevin Boss replaced Jeremy Shockey in ONE postseason performance but Manning lost the game on Sunday for the Giants. He's overshadowed by the running game and that's honestly what gives him the success through the air to make a couple throws each game but when Jacobs is gone.... yeah.

Rivers basically went 16 games without Tomlinson and made the playoffs. Slimly, but still Very Happy

Rivers is a great QB. He should be the first one to get it and if not, that obviously won't mean a thing either Razz

Rivers' team went 8-8. If the Chargers did not make the playoffs and win the one playoff game, there would not be as much love for Rivers.

Maybe from people that have never seen a Chargers game before the playoffs...

Wasn't Phillip Rivers also the guy who was voted the most overrated player in the NFL by his fellow players and was not voted to the Pro Bowl?

Billy, good to see Eli was picked 1th overall.

I don't think Eli is worth that type of money. Giants would be stupid to commit that much money to him.

lol Eli Manning may have won a super bowl but he's NOT the reason the Giants won.

That money should be spent on those hardworking defensive players, or O-Line, or RBs....Eli Manning is the most overrated QB since Michael Vick.

Keep telling you that. Maybe Eli didn't win the Super Bowl in Rainbowland, but in the Realityland, he did and he also has something called the Super Bowl MVP.

A quarterback winning a Super Bowl MVP is usually the guy who wins it when there are no other standout candidates. As long as the QB didn't make a mess of things, he's usually going to win it.

I think making Eli Manning the highest paid quarterback in football is about as stupid as possible.

Considering I'm partially paying that salary as a season ticket holder--worth every penny...get it done Reese, wrap it up Razz

It would be a smarter move to invest 110 million dollars in the current stock market than it would to invest it in Eli.

It seems like every Giant wants a new and more hefty contract.

Which means you should be happy about it. But since you seem to feel the need to criticize it... that tells me that Eli is indeed worth every penny of it.

If the Giants give him this contract they are stupid. He's not worth this much money. The Giants better hope there's not a windy day up there or he's inept. That performance in the Eagles playoff game was embarrasing and I'm not even a Giants fan at all.

I realize they have to pay him a lot but I just don't see how he's worth all that money.

Great news in my opinion. Eli obviously isn't the most flashy quarterback, but he's just what the Giants need.

What? He was making horrible decisions the whole game. He played with the wind, and still played bad. It really had nothing to fo with the play calling. Manning was rushed and was just not making acute decisions.
