why the hell would they have matched his offer if they were going to trade him?

he's their only center other than Dwight, all signs point to him staying as of right now.

sorry, Mavs fans.

Because he gets paid way too much money for a backup. We are most likely going to trade him, but we cant for 90 days, so look for Gortat to be moved around the trade deadline

This

And I'm sorry but I dont see what they could realistically get for him in return that would make them any worse if he's traded.

We aren't paying a back-up center THAT much money. We'll most likely trade him for a cheaper back-up or maybe draft picks?

I hope its for a cheaper backup. Hopefully during the 1st half of the season, Gortat gets better so teams will have a lot of interest in him. I can see us getting a decent backup and a pick.

What about using our trade exception and getting a big expiring contract?

why are you apoligizing to us? he can't be traded here for a year. and he will get traded at the deadline. yes he is the only other center but there isn't one backup (besides 6th men such as JET, Ginobli, GOrdon, etc...) that is worth all that money. They could trade him and sign a backup to play 10 min a game for 1mil

Either way he makes YOUR team better. The money doesn't matter because its not really coming out of your pocket and will pay for itself with the new arena. Otis Smith has been brilliant this offseason he wont let Gortat walk if it wont upgrade the Magic roster.

Gortat will eventually be traded probably not for a while though. But I am glad that our owners are letting us do whatever we need to do to win.

He'll be experimented at PF, if Orlando picks up Watson they won't have any big needs so trading Gortat won't have to happen.

Bad move if that happens. Let me say this, though it may not make any sense whatsoever. The Magic are going to be an improved team. But they are going to do worse in the playoffs, and not so much because of how the Celtics and Cavs improved.

The primary reason they made the finals was because of the mismatches they created, mainly against the Cavs. However now they don't have those mismatches. VC is a tough matchup, but nothing like Turk. Shard Lewis at the 3 is a much easier matchup than him at the 4. Bass is not hard to stop at the 4, very straightforward and D12 can be stopped by Shaq and Perkins. If I'm the Magic this is the lineup I go with.

Nelson/Pietrus/Carter/Lewis/D12 or.... Nelson/Carter/Lewis/Barnes/D12

Those keep a lot of mismatches, and would lead to a lot of success. But I'm thinking against the Cavs. Against the Celtics, probably the Nelson/Carter/Lewis/Gortat/D12 lineup you mentioned. Though how Gortat can move against a forward who can stretch the floor is a bit of a variable.

I think you will see a combination of those 3 lineups depending on who they are playing. I like Pietrus geting the nod and geting a lot of PT. He played some of the best D on LBJ I've ever seen.

The Magic are improved but like I keep saying they are still a half step behind the Cavs and Celtics.

I think Matt Barnes can still be a pretty darn good SF in the NBA. So imo it was a good signing for the Magic.

Or we can do that, I would not be opposed to doing this.

Do we still have part of the Dooling trade exception? If so we have Turkoglu's also, thats about 10,000,000 in trade exception. Somebody correct me if im wrong.

We paid him that much money so we can get SOMETHING out of Gortat instead of letting him go via trade. Apparently, logic isn't in your best interest so it appears you can't make good conclusions. Honestly, how many teams pay their back up over 30 million dollars? Smith won't let his best players walk without getting nothing i.e Hedo s&t.

I was asking KeithBulluck's opinion because he is an Orlando fan. Not online gangster LOL Laughing Laughing
