That would be dependent on what contract he gets elsewhere. Doubtful he'll get a big one if the Chiefs just let him go. |
Just look at the deal Jonathan Vilma got and you'll see what DJ will get and likely surpass. He has a very high reputation around the league, benched or not. I see us getting at least a 5th rounder as compensation for him, but I'm personally predicting a 4th if we let him walk. _________________

Getting nutted isn't even a comparison with getting blinded. That's just messed up.. |
Thanks, that was killin' me.
...so the inability to ever have children is worse than losing your eye sight in one eye? Pretty even if you ask me. |
That is even. But the odds of losing your vision to an eye gouge and the odds of losing the ability to have children from a waabish are not even. Break his hand or something. Don't take his eyes.
Oh and Jenkins may even be better than Haden, arguably. He's younger and definitely has some Mr. Brightside in him.
Watch some of Jermaine Cunningham. I think he'll be a beast of a 3-4 OLB in the NFL game. _________________

Both my uncle and one of my close high school friends lost one of "the boys" after getting racked and I've yet to meet anyone who has lost an eye because of a gauge. Generally speaking, you guys may be right about the likelihood of either happening, but you guys now know why I made that comparison.
I didn't even pay attention to Jenkins, TBH. I was impressed with Haden on one play, only for him to have a complete blown coverage on the next play. His footwork is very inconsistent and he can get overpowered pretty easily from what I've seen. I still like him, but mainly because of his potential.
I'll have to keep Cunningham on my list of guys to watch. Thanks for the heads up. _________________

I recorded the game so that I could watch him, Green, James, Dunlap & what's his face (Florida's corner) and I ended up seeing a great game from every single one of them...all the way up until the eye gouge. Then again, we all still rooted for Brackenpunch after he nutted a Brandon Marshall a couple years back. Either way, I've been impressed with Spikes' improvement over last year. His footwork is much better this year and he no longer gives me the feeling that he's afraid of contact in close quarters (that's what I thought last year after seeing him play). I still like Rolando McClain better as an ILB prospect for us, though.
Spikes has a very realistic chance at sliding to our 2nd round pick from the Falcons this year and I'd be ecstatic to grab him then. |
Personally I think that Micah Johnson would be the best MLB/ILB for you guys... so of course I hope that you don't get him |

While I love him as a prospect, he's nowhere near the level of McClain in terms of leadership and overall football IQ. He has all the measurables you could ever want, but McClain is a friggin' QB that just so happens to play linebacker. I love his intangibles. _________________

While I agree I just think that he would bring a physical presence to your defense that you guys haven't had for quite some time. |

While think Johnson is a solid prospect, and I have included him in my prospect profiles earlier this year, I have noticed that at times he seems to be a step slow in reacting to the play and attacking the ball carrier. McClain has such instinctive reactions that he is able to quickly put himself in a place to make a play. Plus he has tremendous triangle numbers that give him a huge edge as a playmaker. Alot of players that have tremendous athleticism lack the instincts and conversely alot of instinctive players lack the athleticism - McClain has both along with one characteristic you look for in a good middle linebacker : a heat-seeking missile mentality. McClain is equally strong in pass coverage as he is attacking the run. Also, he has very good range for a player his size which allows him to make plays sideline-to-sideline. |

Spikes has now suspended himself for the entire Vandy game. I must say that I didn't see this one coming. Based on his comments, and this action, I think he really regrets it, and I would now not be opposed to drafting him.
| Quote: | "I really don't want to be a distraction to the team," Spikes said. "I want the guys to prepare without any negative things going on. I feel like if I would play, it would be a big thing. I'm just trying to stay out of the way and just motivate the guys. I'm pretty sure Stamper's my back and my teammates really support me on this decision."
Florida coach Urban Meyer said Spikes approached he and defensive coordinator Charlie Strong Tuesday night and they made a collective decision. "We support Brandon fully," Meyer said.
"Alot of the negative things out there are really weighing heavy on his heart right now," Meyer said. "As a group, we decided in the best interest just for the team to not play him Sat. It's a group decision. We're doing it out of respect for our team so we can focus on trying to win our ninth game. We think it's the right thing to do." |
Also, I saw this article on McClain, and I definitely wouldn't be opposed to us drafting him now either, although a top 10 1st rounder is still probably too high for a ILB, and especially considering all of our other weaknesses - http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=maisel_ivan&id=4619628
I don't really like Saban, but he knows his stuff, and the accomlades he put on McClain mean a lot IMO.
| Quote: | "You can teach a hitter where the strike zone is," Saban said. "You can even teach him how to swing a bat. But you really can't teach him [how to judge] a ball or a strike from the time it leaves the pitcher's hand until it gets to home plate. The guy's got to figure that out on his own and make an" -- Saban snapped his fingers -- "almost athletic intuition decision, that this is a good pitch to hit.
"Even though we're not playing baseball, from a football-playing standpoint, Ro would be … " Saban thought for a second.
"Albert Pujols?" |
