How do the injuries to Pitts and Daniels affect them and the team in FA? I would think the injuries make them less desireable to any team and thus cheaper on the FA market. How does it affect the Texans though since both were serious injuries that take time to recover from?

I could see both accepting one year deals. But i think their injuries mean that they both will be Texans next year. Pitts may have a hard time getting his spot back though.

I see Pitts signing a 2 or 3 year deal and OD signing a long term deal. OD will not agree to a 1 year deal, he wanted a long term deal this offseason to avoid losing money because of injury and now that he is injured I don't see him agreeing to a one year deal and I don't think he should. Maybe we franchise him, but I think we saw enough from him this year to give him a long term deal.

Pitts will probably walk and Daniels will get maybe a 2year deal depending on how his knee heals, remeber he has blown his left knee 3 times

OD is likely to be retained for a 1-year deal though I think he wants a longer deal. Unless the new CBA is signed he will be a RFA so it would be a repeat of this year. Pitts is likely to be kept on a short term deal. I don't see him garnering much attention elsewhere.

I think it's very important that we hold on to both of these players. They're two of our best offensive football players.

Hopefully nothing has to give this offseason when it comes time to pay Daniels, Pitts, Walter, and Robinson. Those four players are very important to the football team.

I certainly don't claim to "know it all" as you suggest, but I am pretty confident that there has NEVER been a team that has won Super Bowls because of the quality of their TE depth

I'm thinking that both get 1 yr. deals to prove their health and worth, but no franchise tag, and then maybe get extended deals after next year if they've earned it. I'm just wondering how this affects us in FA?

Sorry folks. OD has been a great player for us and improved his game every single year and was certainly due for a big pay raise this offseason. However, the man was offered a tidy sum on money this offseason and he rejected it (nothing officially released, but supposedly it was $15 million+ guaranteed). Say what you will about OD, but he did not have have the juice to be holding out for Dallas Clark money, nor should he have expected the Texans to throw around stupid money just because the Bucs threw it away on Kellen Winslow. OD had an offer on the table that would have left him wanting for nothing the rest of his life and he turned it down because his pride said he was worth top 3 TE money before he had earned it. I will grant you he was half-way to earning that status this year, but now he's just another player with major injury concerns as this is the 4th time he's torn up a knee and he's not going to be fully recovered until mid-season next year. There is not a team in their right mind that will offer him a long-term deal with guarantees as more than half of players with ACL injuries never regain their previous performance level and 20% don't return at all. I think OD can come back strong, but he's going to have to spend next year proving to people that he's worth a long-term commitment again and it's entire possible that James Casey shows that OD was a product of the system which favors the TE (remember Shannon Sharpe). Part of me feels for the guy, but part of me says that he got greedy and got burned.

As for Pitts, I honestly don't see that much of a market for him. He's never been an elite guard and at 31 coming off microfracture surgery he's not going to have too many suitors outside Houston. This is Fred Weary part 2 although Pitts was definitely a cut about Weary.
