This is a fair point Yord. There is what a man does on the field and what a man does off the field. You can't link the two so flippantly.

Come again?

[EDITED BY MODERATOR]

LJ has a point with this organization and you can not deny it.

Here I come again then. I was discussing the fact that you can't keep someone from setting records based on off field antics. Still... not saying his off field antics are the only reason people are angry. I think you're very confused about what you're trying to argue.

LJ doesn't deserve to be our all time leading rusher because he hasn't been even close to a relevant factor in our offense since 2007..in other words, he's sucked on the field for two and a half years. When you combine that with all his crap he's putting our locker room through and trashing our head coach in the media, he does not deserve the title.

I'm thinking you might be the one who is confused. Just maybe.

Okay, everyone seems to be missing two key facts here. Let me lay this out for every simply:

1) LJ is a terrible excuse for a human being. We Chief's fans pride ourselves on having a high character team, and don't want to be represented by low character players. Agree or disagree with that, but this is how middle America feels about our football players.

2) LJ pretty much stole millions of dollars from the Chief's organization. After his back to back 1700 yard seasons, he got a huge pay day and has PLAYED TERRIBLY SINCE. So let's make this clear, he ran hard for us, then we payed him to continue to run hard for us. He did not do that. Period. This isn't just an off the field issue, his attitude is shown on the field too. He doesn't deserve the record because he is a terrible football player. For what we payed him, we deserved a hell of a lot more out of him. And remember, it's US who pay his salary with ticket and merchandise sales. He hasn't lived up to his salary on the field in any shape or form.

So, horrible person + terrible football player = doesn't deserve the record. It's as simple as that.

for those who are complaining about their comments being edited, it is not because you are not allowed to discuss a "relevant NFL topic," it is because you are discussing each other as fans or the administration of the site.

neither are encouraged or allowed, particularly in the NFL News forum, where we expect the best of your best postings.

let's just keep it to football. thank you.

Absolutely not. But I'm going to leave this one alone. Rhetoric Master.

Guys, if you honestly believe that the sole reason for Chiefs fans speaking out about LJ is solely because of his off-field antics, it's painfully obvious you haven't watched any Chiefs games over the past 3 years. The guy doesn't run with heart, barely ever finishes his runs ever since he got his big contract and hell...he's averaging 2.7 YARDS PER CARRY this season, while Jamaal Charles is over 5 YPC behind the same exact O-line. Trust me when I say that Chiefs fans are fed up with LJ because of his play on the field just as much as we are about his crap off the field. If you'd like to go on believing something that just simply isn't accurate at all, be my guest. In the mean time, I hear Adrian Peterson is overrated because he might get injured. Must mean he sucks.

This is the exact point that is being overlooked by you, as well.

Would KC fans be hating on LJ if he was averaging 5yds per carry, but still had the same off-field issues? I don't think so. Matter of fact, history says it's definately no.

Teams make moves that upset people all the time. Many of those that are upset blame it on the theory of "what have you donr for me lately", that the teams seem to live by. This is a case that proves that the fans are no different.

It's hypocritical.

are you kidding me?

Personally, I wouldnt care if he averaged 8 ypc at this point. I dont think that any fan of any sport would like one of the faces of their franchise to be the kind of person that he is. you think we would take back TO and forget about the past just because he has a great career? i DONT THINK SO. the kind of players that a team has should represent their teams in a respectable manner not only on the field but off of it and abusing women, and referring to people by homophobic slurs isnt something that you would want your franchise associated with your team.

I won't reply to the rest of your post aside from the quoted part because...quite frankly...it's assinine and ridiculous. Instead, would you mind elaborating on what you are referring to by this quote? Just curious.

Uh, having a dumb team overpay you is not the same as stealing.

LJ had two great seasons, why wouldn't they pay him? It's how pro sports work. You do well, they pay you.

Johnson is a repugnant human being, but not wanting him to get the record out of spite is...odd.

It's sad how NFL players seem to have a license to whale on chicks, but if they get caught with marijuana or something it's like "DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER. SMALL AMOUNT OF POT CHARACTER ISSUES. CLASS AT CRITICAL LEVELS

I'm going to sign it. He has been pretty disrespectful and hasn't done anything productive on the field.

If he breaks the record, I won't be mad, but I won't be happy. LJ and KC just don't go together anymore.

Do you know the situation at all? LJ didn't smoke any pot, he whaled on chicks.

And he pretty much stole from the Chiefs (pay attention to word choice there) because he didn't do the work he was paid to do afterwards. It's just like a contractor getting paid half a million dollars to build a luxury home and then building some piece of crap that collapsed on the owners in a year. If he did that, he'd be sued into a oblivion because he essentially stole money. In any other profession, if you got paid a high price and returned a product that was catastrophically bad, it's looked at as borderline criminal behavior.
