I recently heard about this show, and within a couple of months watched every episode. Mad Men is definitely one of my favorite shows on TV; I recommend it to everyone who enjoys period dramas. The show is set in the early 1960s on Madison Avenue, the hub of advertising in NYC. All of the characters are very interesting (especially the lead), the stories are captivating, and there are tons of twists if you're into that thing.

Anyone else a fan?

I've heard a lot of good things about this show but haven't seen it. I might have to put it on the Netflix queue.

You know the chain? This show's not on it. It's off of said chain.

Might be the best show on TV right now. Period drama and terrific characters just come together to create an amazing atmosphere.

I don't get AMC, so I haven't seen any of season 3, but the first two season were outstanding.

Yeah, a new thread pops up every few months, gets to about 3 pages, then drops like a boulder.

Mad Men is easily the best show on TV right now (although I haven't seen Dexter or Breaking Bad, which both look great) and although I can't watch it live, I download it and watch it later in the week. It's so fantastic. I just lent my season 1 DVDs to a buddy of mine at work, to hopefully get another person hooked.

I still haven't gotten around to watching this past the pilot, but I just found out for my Writing for Television class that I have to write a spec script for Mad Men, so I went out and bought the 1st and 2nd seasons for 20 bucks a piece at Target.

No comments about the last episode?

The best of the season and probably top 5 all time for me. The lawnmower incident was so unexpected and this episode was filled with hilarious one liners as well. Plus the development between Don and Conrad Hilton looks really interesting. This show never fails to disappoint.

I'm 8 episodes into the first season, and while it started really slowly, it's now beginning to pick up. The affair between Pete and Peggy is becoming more involved, the infidelities may start becoming more apparent, and the small glimpse into Don Draper's first life is enigmatic and intriguing.

i've only seen the first two episodes, but they were FANTASTIC
it seems like you need to look at the episodes analytically to enjoy everything about them, which is quite fine by me.

I can already see y they won the Emmys.

Finally saw the last half of season 3. Wow. That season 3 finale has got to be one of my favorite episodes of any television show ever. Scripted perfectly. It's basically giving you exactly what you've wanted the whole time, you just didn't know it. Can't wait for season 4, what an adventure it could be.

I actually have a very different opinion on the show. I thought season 1 was mediocre at best. There was far too much forced drama for my liking, and Don Draper was really the only character that captivated me and maintained my interest. Then the finale came, and I felt like there was much to be discovered so I continued watching. Season 2 was a let down for me, as I found it to be repetitive and boring. But with that being said, there were still a few subplots that kept my interest and forced me to watch season 3. Then this is when it all came together for me. Amazing season, and probably my favorite out of any show I have ever seen. The lawnmower incident was a great twist that was so unexpected, and the evolution of Betty Draper is very intriguing. Episode 12, and of course the finale, were two of the best TV episodes I have ever seen. So much is unknown now heading into season 4, and it is almost like a whole new show is starting.

The writers do a great job at bringing out emotion in the viewer, forcing you to feel sympathetic towards Betty for an instant, and then flipping that and making you feel bad for Don. I cant wait for season 4, so much is to be discovered.

P.S. January Jones who plays Betty Draper is very attractive.

Season 2 is incredible. If it weren't for The Wire season 4, that would be my favorite season of television.

Such deep characterization and brilliant symbolism. Stuff I didn't even pick up on until the 3rd time I watched some of the episodes. It pretty much cements Mad Men as the best show on TV and Don Draper as one of the most complex and interesting characters of all-time.

Now, I haven't seen season 3 yet, because I have to wait for the Blu-Rays (didn't get AMC with Minneapolis Basic Cable). But if it is better than season 2, I am in for a wonderful surprise.

I think your going to love season 3. Although I previously stated that season 2 was disappointing for me, I see what your getting at with the characterization, specifically with Don. Season 3 though, takes this a step further and applies it to all of the central characters. Not only do Don and Betty evolve into the most interesting TV couple of all time, but Pete Campbell becomes one of the best love to hate characters ever, and Roger Sterling really comes into his own as well. I can say with all confidence Thrillhouse, that you will absolutely love season 3. I watched the finale last night and I just want season 4 to start today, it was that good. Best season finale of the series thus far and maybe of any show I have ever seen.
