I just did this one with my good friend who is a big packer fan he is a good draft guru. As I am trying to become one we put this together after practices tell me what you think.
Round One. FS Brodney Pool , Oklahoma HT-6'3 WT-208lbs
Why- A playmaker and a ball hawk his tackling could use some fine tuning but he is usually solid in that department. He is a awesome coverage player who uses his awareness a lot He has good height and speed who will and should excel in Bates coverage scheme of defense. Was a stand out player on a great defense he struggled a little this year but still had a solid year. He will help out GB defense out a lot he should be the next great safety.
Round Two1. OLB Odell Thurman, Georgia HT-6’1 WT-233lbs
Why- Can play inside or outside he is very athletic has good speed and quickness. He is known for big hits and never misses has a ton of potential. He will probably be playing outside on the weak side and let Diggs go back to the strong side. He is coming out to help support his family this man is a monster on the field who is relentless against half backs. Him along with Barnett and Diggs will make for a good line backing core.
Round Two2. DE Chris Canty, Virginia HT-6’7 WT-290lbs
Why- Finally we get a upgrade at the Strong side end with CC. CC would have been a first rounder for sure if not for the injury. He is great against the run and surprising versus the pass. He had 104 tackles his junior year playing 3-4 end so imagine what he could do in the 4-3 defense. His injury was a freak accident he should be fully healed and ready to show his skills in camp. He will help our line gain the respect that they have been lacking for years.
Round Three. OG Dan Buenning, Wisconsin HT-6’3 WT-220
Why- We lost both starting guards witch is kind of bad but with the depth we have on our offensive line and the coach we have I think we are okay. Dan we add depth and could step in at the LG spot he is very powerful and likes to run block. Ahman will be plenty happy to have this guy blocking for him Farve will also like him blocking in front of him. I think him and Barry will be our guards of the future.
Round Four. HB Frank Gore, Miami HT-5’10 WT-220
Why- Ahman Greens contract is up in a couple years so and we might not have the cash he wants. We also might lose Najeh this year so Gore would be a great pick up he is powerful and a great runner but had a streak of injury’s but has bounced back very well he has a good cutback and runs hard inside the tackles he should be a good back up for a while for very little money he might come in and be a starter in a couple years.
Round Five. ILB James “Boomer” Grigsby, Illinois HT:6’0 WT:230
Why- [I] We need some good depth at the LB spot with Marshall probably gone we get a monster tackler. Last year Boomer raked up 179 tackles that is just amazing for any level of college football. He was a finalist for the Buchanan award given to the best D player in AA. Boomer will probably be on special teams for a little while in till he can prove himself a starting spot but that might not be for a little while.
Round Six. QB Bryan Randall, Virginia Tech HT-6’0 WT-210
Why- I like CN but he might not work out like we might hope he will and O’Sullivan is kinda iffy on his own. But CN will get his shot when Brett retires and with this pick we add depth if CN does not work out we could have the potential next McNabb or Culpepper Randall has vision he can read defenses really good. He also has very good mobility I would like to see him learn under Brett for a couple years and then let Randall take over. |

It is pretty good, but I might switch the positions of the 1st and 2nd pick.
If David Pollack is their we should get him. He might end up being a great player.
Then with the Second pick get Ernest Shazor. This guy can knock the crap out of any player. |

David Pollack is not going to be as dominate as he was in college.
Ernest Shazore can not cover and that is what we need coverage safetys. _________________

I like it, but I'm not sold on Canty. He had only one sack as a senior. _________________

Read this over. It should tell you my concerns about Canty. Some of my main concerns are his consistancy, injury problems, and the 4-3.
Chris Canty
6'7''
290 lbs
5.0 (40)
Virginia
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
Born: 11/10/82
Major: African American Studies
Personal: Mother is a pastor.
Prep: Lettered in football and basketball. Did not play football until his junior season. Played defensive end and tight end. On defense, recorded 89 tackles and seven sacks as a senior, while catching twenty passes for 400 yards on offense.
College: Started one of twelve games as a redshirt freshman. Played mainly defensive end, but the one start was at defensive tackle against Wake Forest. Had tree QB pressures and two passes broken up. Missed the two first games of his sophmore season while recovering from a broken right leg. Returned to start eleven games that season. Led ACC defensive lineman with 7.8 tackles per game, also compiling three pressures and four passes broken up. Missed Virginia's bowl game with an arm injury. Started all 13 games as a junior, recording twelve pressures. Started the first five games as a senior before suffering a season-ending torn knee ligiment that required surgury.
Athletic Ability: Above-average athlete. Good size; three inches taller and 15 pounds heavier than average. Weighed just 215 pounds as a freshman. Still has room to get bigger. Bench presses 335 pounds. Will need to improve his upper-body strength. Long arms and legs. Average speed. Thirty-one inch vertical jump.
Position Skills: Excels against the run. Slow off the ball. Must stay low and play with leverage. Uses hands well to play off blocks, but sometimes struggles to shed blocks. Uses an effective swim move. Enough speed to turn the corner, but lacks a closing burst. Instinctive, quick to locate ball. Able to slide down the line and get through traffic. Can change directions easily. Effective keeping containment. Has been disruptive to offenses. Lacks consistancy, appears to take some plays off. Disciplined, plays within the scheme.
Level of Competition: Division 1-A ACC
Character: Quality person with the respect of his teammates. Hard worker, studies film and prepares well for each game. responsible and accountable.
Duribility: Broken right leg in 2002. Knee injury in 2004.
Summary: Has been very productive at defensive end in a 3-4 defense, but may be better suited at defensive tackle in a 4-3 defensive scheme. Consistancy and knee status following his surgury remain the primary concerns.

I also have productivity concerns. He is ranked, by the magazine, as the number 7 d-end, right above Dan Cody. I would rank him number nine, in this order:
1. Marcus Spears
2. Shawne Merriman
3. Erasmus James
4. David Pollack
5. Matt Roth
6. Dan Cody
7. Justin Tuck
8. Bill Swancutt
9. Chris Canty
10. Demarcus Ware _________________

| If GB is going to take a DE then they need to take a guy that's bigger. Rushpacker, so many of the high ranking DE's are tiny. Erasmus James, David Pollack, the dudes are tiny. Canty's size makes him more attractive because he can solidify the run game. I say give him a shot. But whatever Ted Thompson does, do not go after an undersized Defensive End. With KGB the last thing we need is two small DE's. |

| Exactlly Daintrain Chris has great size he is great against the run. The only other DE I would want would be Shaun Cody or Johnathan Goddard in latter rounds. |

You don't need size as much as you need. Dwight Freeney is short, but he just led the season in sacks.
We need a guy who can put pressure on the QB so he can force throws and create turnovers. |

| Correct Half but Freeney is the probably the fastest DE in the NFl. |
