Why the hell would Carolina draft a RB in the first round. They will not draft one since Nick Goings proved himself to be a great runningback and Steven Davis is awesome too. I say they get a wide reciever. _________________ Alex Smith will get better.
Vince Young will be awesome in the Nfl and should come out early.
Vince Young rubbed himself in butter before the Rose Bowl.

steve smith is a panther WR.
stephen davis is a panther RB, but he's coming back from microfracture surgery. some (if not a lot) of the panthers draft strategy will hinge on the health of davis and mark fields at LB.
basically panthers will get best weapon available.
in fox and hurney we trust. |

the panthers rb situation is a big question mark. davis is coming off major surgery and might not take another snap in the NFL. foster is great but he's ended up on IL 2 of the past 3 years. and i as a panthers fan do not want to rest our season hopes on goings again. he is a great back up but i cant see him carrying the load for a full season if davis doesn't return(which is very possible) and if foster gets hurt again (which is also very possible) we need a franchise RB and if any of the top 3 drop to us we will most certainly get it. we live and die by our runnig game and to have question marks going into the season is to invite disaster. taking one of the top 3 would more than likely solve that problem for awhile. plus we dont really have any other serious needs besides OG so we can spend a first day pick on a RB. _________________

I think the others here have done a good job covering why I gave them a back(assuming that you are referring to the mock that I gave them Caddy).
Davis is a big question mark, and Foster has always been an injury question. Even in college, he never made it through a full college season. Even though thye have a ton of talent, they may not be able to count on it. And the running game is a big part of their offense.
Caddy would definitely be BPA at that point. Too many people get caught up picking solely on need and it can hurt them. The draft is not just baout needs at that moment, you have to look down the line a little bit about future needs. With Davis' future in doubt, and Foster havin injury questions, they could use a back now. And getting Caddy woudl allow them to move on those two backs for cap room if they need to. |
