Browns signed restricted free agent WR Andrew Hawkins to a four-year offer sheet.
The Bengals will have ten days to decide whether to match the deal and keep Hawkins in Cincinnati. Browns GM Ray Farmer is trying hard to land a receiver to take some heat off Josh Gordon, since Greg Little has been a mammoth bust and Davone Bess was a mental disaster before being released. A creative offensive mind like OC Kyle Shanahan could get Baby Hawk looks out of the backfield and in the slot. It'd be nice to see Hawkins escape Cincinnati.

Would be a great signing. He's so explosive and could be a great fit in the slot for them.

One of my favorite players. Very underrated.

I remember when the Rams signed this guy and released him before the Bengals got him... Rams former management in a nutshell.

I would love the signing for us, but if Cinci matches does he HAVE to resign with them or will we be due to pay them compensation (which i assume would be nothing as they put an original round tender on him)?

I do not understand why the Bengals put the lowest tender on him.

But, we'll see if they match. They have some money, but i bet they're going to take some time and see if they get any of their other targets (if they have any).

I wonder how much the contract was for.

I would guestimate somewhere in the 4yr/$10m region for him, not proven much but has potential and also we have to make it a difficult offer to match as you do have a decent amount of cap space from an outsiders point of view.

How can Cincy not match this?

They have a TON of space and would lose him to a division rival.

That said

Don't match it

Yeah anything over 4mil is a lot of money in the Bengals eyes, who haven't gotten much out of him.

That should put things in better perspective.

First thought is great. Take a good player from Cincy. But if Cleveland gets the right QB(Carr) Im more worried about them.

Yeah, unfortunately we have problems finding QBs for some time now
