Pollack hopes to return for '08 season
| Quote: | | Cincinnati Bengals linebacker David Pollack, a former first-round choice who suffered a career-threatening neck injury in the second game of the 2006 season, will not play at all in 2007 but will continue rehabilitation in hopes of resuming his career in 2008. Sources close to Pollack confirmed to ESPN.com that the former University of Georgia star, one of the most heralded defenders in Bulldogs history, will sit out this season. Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis also told a Savannah media outlet that Pollack will not play in 2007. Pollack, however, does not intend to retire. He is hopeful that, with another year spent strengthening his neck and continuing his rehabilitation regimen, he will eventually be able to get back onto the field. |

I feel so bad for the guy, he's a great player as well as a great person. Kind of reminds me a little of Terrance Murphy.. Luckily Terrance Murphy is a interim coach for the Packers
Good Luck to Pollack, I really hope he makes it back _________________

I hope he gets a chance to be back on the field. This has to be very tough for him. _________________

Same, he was a lot of fun to watch at the U of G , deffently one of my favorite players entering that draft, I was pissed he didn't fall to the birds at the time
Anyways I'm sure he will get back on the field he has done nothing but busted busted his tail to get where he is, he's one of those guys that can over come this, best of luck to him _________________

He wont play again. He had a very severe neck fracture and they had to fuse his vertibra together. He will never get cleared by a Dr. to play again.
I don't mean to sound like a complete a hole but he is just putting himself at much greater risk. He should just be lucky he can walk and try something else with his very young life. _________________

Actually, i don't believe it was fused. If it had been, they he would have been barred from playing again. I can't find a link right now though.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If and when he comes back, will he continue the LB transition, or will he go back to DE? The Bengals need help at either position, but thought he had a better career at LB. _________________

I feel terrible for him and hope he can comeback. But, he shouldn't risk further and worse injury to play. I don't know the ins and outs of his situation, but I would probably hang it up if I were him. _________________

I couldn't find the information either but if you are right and his neck was not fused then I do admire him for coming back from such a serious injury and wish him luck in the future _________________
